![]() Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut By: Sega Of America, Inc. Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 102 More Information This game doesn't deserve to be underrated This game is an improvement of the original Dreamcast game. Lots of things are fixed up, Graphics look much sharper & nicer, music is the same, they added new features like new unlockables such as Game Gear games (you have to collect a certain amount of emblems to unlock them) & a new mission mode with around 60 missions. Happy Grandkids I had to leave town on business and bought this before I left. It arrived while I was gone and two little boys VERY HAPPY!!! Thank you! Great No complaints on this game or the way it was shipped, came in sooner that expected. Way Past Cool Remake Since the new Sonic games (Sonic 06, Secret Rings, Unleashed) dont match up to my expectations, Ive been buying the older sonic games (Gamecube, PS2)and they are much better.I purchased this game recently and I got easily attached to it. Sure the graphics arent astonishing but its really fun so it doesnt really matter. Bigs story isnt that fun and is slow but Bigs a really cute cat. Chaos is also a really cool final boss. All the other stories are fun to play and the storyline isnt bad either. Its upsetting how Sega doesnt make games like this anymore. go sonic!! i like this game its verry cool 5 charitrs and 1 secret robot chartor with one cool story to st op the evil chos go anyhere do anything you want The Kids Love It! I bought this for my great nephew and he plays this Sonic game non-stop. It was his favourite gift for Christmas. The item was delivered new and is in perfect shape. Difference between this and the Dreamcast version This review is will ONLY tell you the DIFFERENCE between the gamecube version and the dreamcast version so if you never played this game before, please dont waste your time reading this review as I made this review for the people who played the dreamcast version as well. Anyways lets get started shall we? List of different things in this version. 1) Graphics: this versions graphics are far more superior than the dreamcasts version. The landscapes which include the waterfall and the grass area in the Mystuic Ruins are more releastic. In addition to that the train looks different and the hotel which is located in Station Square has a red carpet which makes you feel that you are entering this hotel as if you were doing so in real life. The levels graphics are also superior where I can hardly describe it. Youtube the gamecube version and you will notice the difference yourself when playing this version. 2) Sound quality: Im really disappointed with the sound as you can hardly hear what the characters are talking about while your playing the game, as the music is far more louder than the characters talkings. I also noticed a difference in the music when you play through the levels. This versions sound is better than the dreamcasts version, however, the dreamcasts version music is more beautiful. 3) Controls: same as the dreamcast version so theres nothing to add here. 4) Camera: The dreamcasts camera angel is better than this versions camera, however, in this version you can choose between auto to free camera. 5) Story mode: Story mode remains the same, nothing changes unless couple of words from characters which I shall give examples in the near future. 6) Game speed: I was really impressed by the loading speed of this version. In the dreamcat version you had to wait like 60 seconds to load from Station Square to Mystic Ruins, however, in this version if you count only to 5, then the loading will be finished!!! 7) Changes: I will add the chao features changes later when I have the time. FAQs: 1) Would you recommend this version or the dreamcast version? Absolutly this version! The graphics and game speed are far superior than the dreamcast version. In addition to that when you raise your chao and hit him a lot, he will not die likme the dreamcast version. 2) Why did you buy this version when you had the dreamcast version? My dreamcast has exploded over 2 times and I do not wish to purchase a 3rd console so that it will explode on me again over time so I decided to give it a try with this version and boy!! Im so glad I bought it! An Overall Good Game I think that this game is one of my favorites. It provides plenty of action and enough difficulty to keep you playing all night. You can play first as Sonic and later on as Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big and Gamma. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles stories I think are great, but Amy, Big and Gamma stories were too short and only took me 1 hour to finish. Once you finish all 6 characters you can play as Super Sonic and finish the game. It is pretty easy though, which is good for younger kids. Older ones will finish it quick, but still have a good time playing it. Sonic Adventure DX got panned by critics... So What! I first played Sonic Adventure in 2000 on my Dreamcast. Loved the new style of sonic games and for its time, it was revolutionary. And so I bought this game just last week, mind you the last two games I purchased were Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Brothers and I had to compare them at least unconsciously. Here is what I noticed, the camera angle sucks. It is shaky and all over the place. Some of the levels feel that more could have been added so that they could feel "tighter". That out of the way, the character recreation is amazing. I like the personalities and different abilities of each character is given, the music is upbeat, and to say a long story short, it was hard to put down the controller. While Mario Galaxy I find it difficult to get more than 3 stars a day and want to go on... but then again that is me. This game is rated as one of the lowest gamecube games and because of it I feel alot of people have been missing out on a flawed classic. Just to let you know, all of the games I buy I feel are excellent and so Ive shoved this game in my dresser next to Metroid Prime and the Ocarina and Master Quest games. I had a ton of fun with this. I was so surprised with this game because it got such a low score here but I have to say that I had a lot of fun with it. The graphics arent amazing, but they arent bad either. In fact, they are rather colorful which in my opinion makes it seem less stressful and therefore more fun. Sonic retains his 2D speed rather well here, making it still feel like Sonic and not a Mario ripoff. There is a very solid frame rate that keeps the action going smooth. The game isnt ridiculously hard, but has a steady difficulty curve to keep you interested. The levels are varied, well designed, and loads of fun. There is a ton of replay value here, with the chao garden and multiple characters with their own story lines. There are some negatives with this game though. The music for one, is terrible. The cut scenes are pretty annoying but I continue to laugh when they talk because their foreheads move with their mouths. Not to mention the mouths keep moving but no words come out, like a bad dubbing. If you havent played the Dreamcast version and you enjoy platformers, you should definitely give this a go. What happened? I remember playing this on the Dreamcast back in the day as well as the second in the series. I sold the Dreamcast when they stopped making them and stopped making games for the system to purchase another system of some kind at the time. I regretted never finishing the game completely and really liked the Sonic Adventure games. This turd is not the original game it once was however! I would think that re-releasing a game on a newer platform should IMPROVE the title, but apparently Sonic team didnt see improvement as absolutely necessary. The camera is wonky and the controls arent nearly as smooth as they were with the Dreamcasts controller. The graphics have not been improved much if any at all, and the one thing a sonic game has going for it, speed, gets interrupted frequently because of the twitchy controls forcing you to get stuck on a wall in the middle of a big loop or something and you go from 60-0 suddenly. If you have never played the original on the Dreamcast, then this may be worth a rent if you really really must play it, but keep in mind that the original was a groundbreaking eye-popping fun experience and this barely passes as fun! If you ever played the Dreamcast version, there is nothing significantly different here, so dont waste your money. An okay game... I was always a huge fan of the Sonic games growing up, and when I got a second hand Gamecube I decided to get some Sonic games. I was kind of disappointed with this game. There were some levels that where rather pointless and long, and some things that just kind of dragged along. And the camera messes up sometimes. I wouldnt recommend this game to any old time Sonic fans because I feel you would be disappointed with it. After playing it for a little I went out and bought the old version games that were made for the newer systems and must say that I enjoy those much more. An okay game... What a RUSH!!! Before anyone reads this review, I have not played the original game for the Sega Dreamcast, so I really dont know how much of a Directors Cut this really is. Im reviewing the game itself, not its "new and improved features." That aside... WAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! THIS GAME ROCKS!!! The minute I put this in my Gamecube, and heard that electric guitar, I knew I was in for one awesome ride. And was I ever!!! SADX is in my opinion, one of the greatest 3D platformers of all time. Not to mention that its a SUPERB installment into the Sonic universe. Anyway, the game itself is a combination of many different types of gameplay. Sonics levels consist of blazing from one end of a level to another at break-neck speeds, while constantly fighting enemies and doing amazing tricks/stunts. Tails levels have more of a racing feel. His goal is always to beat someone else to the end of the level. Knuckles levels consist of finding missing shards of the master emerald, be they underground, underwater, or inside other enemies. Amys levels have her running from a "stalker" robot, who she cant seem to shake no matter how many levels she traverses (of course shes carrying a mallot thats almost as big as herself, so she puts up a fight WHILE running). Then theyre the two newbies to the series, Big the Cat and E102-Gamma. Bigs levels are, to say the least, DIFFERENT. Unlike any other Sonic game to date. Does he run? No. Fly? No. Fight? Barely. So what DO Bigs levels consist of?... brace yourself. FISHING. Thats right, fishing. You find a lake, sit down, cast your line, and wiggle it around until you catch your target. Sad I know. Now E102s have a SLIGHTLY more Sonic feel. He runs around, jumps, flys, pretty much everything you would expect a Sonic robot to do. So whats different? GUNS (evil grin). This sucker targets every enemy in sight and fries em all at once. Dont expect anything quite as hard core as Shadows game, keep in mind this is rated E. Still, its a unique experiance. The storyline basically involves the crew trying to stop good ol Doc Eggman from resurrecting an ancient water demon known as "Chaos." Of course, they all have theyre own little side stories, but Im not gonna give those away. The game also includes a bunch of little bonus features: old (and complete) Sonic games from the 2D days, side missions, and a buncha other little things. Anyway I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a good time. The ONLY downside I can think of is that they didnt put any multi-player stuff in it, but its still fun to take turns with your friends and play. So basically its a great game that should make any Sonic old timers or those just coming into the franchise, happy. Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut... umm isn' that a dreamcast game? by: Anonymous On: 2007-03-09 First I bought Sonic Adventure DX for my laptop. It ran just fine accept the fact that it was hard to control at first. Then I got it for the Gamecube. The gamecube version had at least a few differences. Then I was searching Yahoo for pictures of it and came across some that look lower quality-ish. I kept on studying it and it was for a Sega system called the Sega Dreamcast. Im wanting to get a Dreamcast NOW in 2007! Too bad they dont sell like a Dreamcast II just like that XBOX now XBOX 360! And why exactly did Sega make a re-make when it looks better but you have fewer things in like the chao garden. Speakn of fewer items in the chao garden the dreamcast version of sonic adventure 2 had bigger landscapes and better graphics. Well back to Sonic DX... I really like the game. Eh? by: Anonymous On: 2007-01-06 This game is GREAT! id give it 5 out of 5 stars but... I loved the dreamcast verion! and i dont really see any "directors cut" about this game, everything seems the same... so if you still have a sega dreamcast, get this game for that instead because its the origanal, and the game editor took those extra scenes ((if any extra scenes)) out of the game for a reason. so everybody is gonna click on "no" for "did this reveiw help you? but hey, at least i got my point out. Best sonic Game yet. better than sonic adventure 2. by: Anonymous On: 2006-10-01 Sonic went 3-d some years back, but he was very hard to contoll! now, sonic is back with all his friends in this unexpectadly good game. PLOT::: Sonic and friends battle it out to stop evil Dr. Robonic from getting all 7 chaos emeralds and feeding them to his watery like pat Chaos. you get to play as 6 characters from the sonic series introducing BIG the Cat. each character overlaps the plot. but in doing so, you learn more and more things you couldnt learn from one character alone. also, this game introduses the Chao a cute little creature that can turn into animals and race. their fun to play with when the game gets frustrating. ((note that the Chao garden is much better in Sonic Adventure 2)) the music in this game i phenominal! i usually hate video game music, but this game has some rock, and lots of vocal parts. to finish up this reveiw, Sonic Adventure is a must buy for any fan of the games or the newer show Sonic X. Rings, Rings, Rings, Rings, Rings oh yeah and again: Rings. Like other 5 star reviews, this is a great game. This is heaven for your chao because there are tons of rings (Im crazy about rings). In emerald coast, I got 700 rings in 5 min. compared to 300 rings in Sa2. You can take your chao to SA2 and SADX. You need a GBA cable and a gameboy and Sonic Advance 1, 2 or pinball party. (I recomend Advance 2 because there are alot of rings.) Then take them. You can bring rings by digging (Knuckles), Light Dashing (Sonic), Cutting weeds (Amy & Tails there are weeds beside the left of the entrance to speed highway and the triangle in the middle of the road in front of the hotel, just to let you know how weeds look like), Fishing (Big You can only do this in adventure mode only. Just rapidly throw your lure to the water (Adventure field only, takes time)). I don;t know about gamma, but however, all characters can get rings by the area sonic did his light dash inside the hotel. (Go right beside the exit beside the front desk. There are stairs, go up and youll see 2 switches. Push the right for rings. The left opens the door beside where the final ring is. To get the crystal ring, be sonic and charge up for your light dash. Then push the ring switch and then the door switch (The left one) Imediately DASH! You will be inside the room (aka the elevator. It doesnt operate). The rings will appear over and over againg as you push the switch. You can stand on it! (Keep knuckles with a magnetic shield and stand on the switch. One ring will be added to your collection per sec.. Use this when you are away (Like in school etc...) One cool way is be Knuckles. Dig in station square for the magnetic sheild. (There are sheilds, Invincibilities, bombs (I dont know why),High speed shoes in item boxes. Rings arent in Item boxes, they come out bouncing). Then go to the switch (I told you previously) and rapidly press it. Rings will attract you. Note: you can also dig in the chao garden. Im still finding out what good does the ring does to the chao. If you throw the chao, the rings wont come out. Its gone for good. Here are some things to remember: If you go far away fron Item boxes you dug out, It will dissapear and wont come back. The rings will dissapear once you dig it out after 8 sec. (Magnetic shield wont attract them) Chao cant steal Item boxes. Invincibility can harm chao, even if you tried to pick it up. If you pick it up and then touch the Item box with the invincibility, There is no harm. I sometimes take my chao some rides with the invincibility and the high speed shoe. Usually if I have the mood, I usually bring over 1000 rings! (To the action stage) ($$$$$) and finish the action stage with all of them. (It happens once a day.) Sometimes, its a failure. You can get special eggs unlike SA2. You can also pick up rings from Tiny chao garden. Currently, I have a little over 1,300,000 rings today. (I deposited 200,000 rings today. These rings are included to the total I listed above. Thank you and sorry for the long review. Hope its helpful. Be sure you use these advices to make your chao win competitions. P.S Sorry about the confusion about the switch. I was confused too. dont listen to the other people by: Anonymous On: 2006-03-14 I think this game is awesome and I do think the camera is sometimes annoying but it isnt that hard. The other people are too dumb and demanding. This game is also more fun if you enjoy that it is sort of older version.I bought this game when it was 40$ and now that you can get it for 20$ I would say you should definitely buy this. EXCELLENT I brought this game in february 2004 and its a real good game . i never played the dreamcast version as a matter of a fact i never owned a dreamcast . Gameplay 10/10 the adventure fields make it look like something outta an rpg type game , they are real okay on the game also the graphics are real cool especially the emerald coast and station square ones . also i like the part on bigs story where he slams his tail in the elevator door to twinkle park i started to crack up when i first saw that part lol Sound 10/10 the old VA did a good job , tails and eggmans VA are the best ones in it so far , and bigs is pretty hilarious Music 10/10 the music fits the game pretty well , i cant name all my favorite songs from the game but i have respect for Jun Senoues Work and the vocalist for the theme songs Overall 10/10 this game is okay , and if you like sonic then this is the game for you ^-^ Sonic in 3D is never going to work I had this game when it was first realeased on the Sega Dreamcast and at the time i was excited about the prospect of playing a 3D Sonic game. And then i played Sonic Adventure, oh and what a mess it was. You would think with the awsome power of the Gamecube Sega would have made some small attempt to improve all the awful bugs from the original Dreamcast version. Well they ait done a single thing, its still a mess. The 3D camera is still as bad as it was on Dreamcast and all other bugs that annoyed me at the time are still in there. Everything about this game is just awful, the music, the terrible voice acting and lets no forget Big the Cat. Get Mario Sunshine or if you need Sonic that badly then get the Mega Collection instead avoid this rubbish. Super Sonic by: Anonymous On: 2006-01-28 In this game you can play as sonic, tails, knuckles, amy, E102-Gamma, and just to make it rock out even more, SUPER SONIC!!!!!!!!This game is so awesome that any sonic fan without one is not a true fan. Worth it for the price by: simonc1138 On: 2005-11-12 I love the original 2D Sonic titles, but when I played Sonic Heroes last year I wound up more frustrated than thrilled by where the franchise had ended up. Im not sure what possessed me to go back and buy Sonic Adventure DX, except that it was cheap, and Im a completist. After all, Sonic Heroes shouldve been the best version of the 3D Sonic games, just because its the newest right? As it turns out, Im liking Sonic Adventure DX a whole lot more than Sonic Heroes, mostly because it doesnt have the cumbersome team-switching dynamic and force you to alternate between three characters. Here we get 6 characters total, and each is given a seperate path with varying gameplay; Sonic gets the traditional speed levels, Knuckles is a "marco polo" treasure hunt, Tails must race Sonic, Amy must avoid capture, Gamma gets a shooting gallery, and Big gets to...fish. Honestly the last one is a little odd and pointless, but otherwise the gameplay modes are all decent and enjoyable. The Sonic levels still hold up the best, but it was interesting to play through the levels in different ways. A lot of things really hurt this game though. The graphics are dated, but its not really a problem if you know this was a Dreamcast port and go in with the right expectations. The "adventure" aspect of the game that places Sonic in an overworld much like Mario 64 doesnt really work. It feels too confining for characters that move really fast, and doesnt connect the story together that well. The story also takes itself a little too seriously, with horrible voice-acting that made me skip the cutscenes the first time through. The worst offender though, and the one that makes every other fault a minor nitpick, is the horrible camera. It gets stuck on corners, shoots at awkward angles, and needs to be constantly adjusted. Its hands down the worst camera Ive seen on a 3D title, especially one featuring a mascot character. Theres a lot to do here, and ultimately if you enjoy what youre doing then the games problems arent so bad. The game also packs in a fistful of the old Sonic Game Gear titles as unlockable goodies. Theyre actually pretty bad, but its fun collecting them for nostalgic value. Overall, Sonic Adventure DX is worth the investment as a discounted/players choice title. The faults are many and obvious, but the game still has enough charm to earn its place in an expanded Gamecube library. 2nd Sonic Game I've ever played.. Still good! Well, first of all, Id like to let you all know, this is my mothers account and she gave me permission to use it. Also, this is my first review ^^" Anyway.... This game, is awesome. The graphics are decent, even though I think they could have done a bit of a better job, comparing this remake to Sonic Heroes, that is. I loved the Sonic and Tails levels, and I basically liked the rest of the levels to death (I was raised a Sonic fan from the depths of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle... Which is still my favorite because it still challenges me sometimes :) ). Sonic, is obviously the blue spiked speed demon of the whole thing, main star and most fun levels. His story is the usual good guy beats bad guy, even though those storylines are usually fun anyway, since you get more views and inputs from the villians (Eggman/Robotnik rules!!). Tails, has been with Sonic since the second game. In SA, he is learning that he can indeed do things himself, and that he should start being more independent. I personally think his story is good for the younger people. Amys story, is that she finds a cute little bird (in the earlier games it would be considered a "Flicky") and learns that it had been seperated from its family. Theres also a big robot thrown in that chases you throughout the levels wanting you and/or the bird (I think the birds name is Lily). Her stages are somewhat like Sonic and Tails, except she cant do homing attack, and youre avoiding a robot called ZERO. Big the cat... He must have one of the most out of place storylines of them all. Throughout the whole thing, his pet frog (named Froggie) had swallowed his "lucky charm" (a chaos emerald) along with Chaoss (one of the "bad guys" even though in the end-- *slaps mouth shut* nope, not giving anything away! Hee hee) tail. All of his levels are fishing for Froggie to try to get him back.. Bigs levels Id have to say are for those who can adapt and figure out the stinkin fishing controls and/or be patient enough to wait for something to bite. Finally, theres E-102 Gamma, who is the 2nd robot created out of Dr. Eggmans E-series robots. Gamma meets Amy at a cerain point, along with Lily, and realises that Eggman is not a good person and he should be good as well. Thinking of his fellow robots, he sets off to free the innocent animals that were incapsulated into the robots. His levels have time limits, but with every target you shoot, you get more time. Ah yes, now to move on to the music. AWESOME. I myself am a fan of progressive rock (its what got me officially addicted to Sonic so that I could be obssessed between game releases having beaten everything else ;D) and the songs on here match the characters, as well as my favorite songs. Im not going to go into detail, since I guess thats for the Soundtrack if they have one. If not, well... youll just have to buy the game and listen to them that way! Since you dont have to unlock ANYTHING to listen to them. (Dun listen to any songs about last bosses or anything youll regret listening to before beating it though!!) Infact, the worst part of this game would have to be graphics, camera angles, and occasionally glitchy controls. The graphics in some of the cutscenes, I admit, are awesome. But I think they could have done a better job in the actual game as well as the other cut scenes. (For instance, one of them have a strange thing where Knuckles looks bigger than Eggman when he walks up to him lying on the ground... How could anybody be bigger than Eggmans belly!? 0_0) The camera angles... I got mad at them when it comes to the levels where youre going in all directions (Big, Knuckles, Amy, KNUCKLES...) But otherwise, theyre fine if youre good with the L and R triggers. Finally, the glitchy controls.. Normally, it doesnt bug me.. But on the last boss (Not going into detail since you have to figure it out for yourself ;D) I kept losing because I would keep getting stuck behind pieces of road or sides of buildings.. However, when it comes to the things that matter the most (Gameplay, Story, and Music) its a sweet game. That, and for those of you who are new Sonic fans... it will explain, A LOT. Ok then! Thats the end of my review! THANKS FOR READING AND I HOPE YOU GET IT!! 2nd Sonic Game I've ever played.. Still good! Amazing, F*cking Amazing (: Although Sonic Ad. 2 will always be my favorite Sonic game, I had a great time playing Sonic Ad. All it needed was better graphics, and Sega made that possible with this remake. But ever since Sonic Heroes, Ive realized that the Sonic series has changed, probably for good. Sonic sadly isnt my favorite game franchise anymore. Its been overpowered by Final Fantasy. Dreamcast Days Arguably, Sega really had a very difficult time trying to master their ways with their final video game system, Sega Dreamcast. Arguably, it was a very decent system that was reallt ahead of its time, and very revolutionary with how we play video games. Nevertheless, with the shadows of Playstation 2 lurking, Sega lost a lot of ground, and then became a software company, rather than a system company. As for Sonic, Segas master sponsored mascot, he made a great pair of games from the Dreamcast. The launch pad, Sonic adventure was very challenging, and made a crossover toward its former rival Nintendo to bring the classic to the Gamecube. Sonic Adventure DX for the Nintendo Gamecube, is a real delight where Sonic, Tails and friends go all out with each of their battle to deal with the mega-headed mad scientist Dr. Robotnik. The game isnt much for fans whove played it on the Dreamcast, but for Gamecube players, it is worth a challenge. The graphics are very beautiful, and have been mastered nicely with this version. The worlds are beautiful whether it is the Casinopolis lights, or the Robotnik airship Sky Deck. Each character has a different challenge, which also adds a bit of bulk to the game. The manuverability also works very well, but is easy to build up on with practice, especially when youre playing charcters like Big the Cat, and Knuckles. This edition also has some great games from Segas Game Gear days that are here from Sonic, which personally is a little more definitive than the recently conjured Sonic Gems Collection with greats like Sonic 1, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Drift 2, and the prequel Sonic Labyrinth of the Sonic 3-D Blast Genesis masterpiece to name a few. Sonic Adventure DX for the Nintendo Gamecube is a great video game for anybody who enjoys Sonic and his fast ways. This isnt as definitive for people whove conquered the Dreamcast version. But, the game is a absolute challenge for anybody who loves this speed devil. Graphics: B+ Sound: A- Control: B+ Fun & Enjoyment: B 1/2+ Overall: B An imported game, hmm.... Now, Sonic Adventure 2:Battle, I loved that game very very much since it has great storyline and that they fixed major stuff, even if it was imported I loved it. But this game.... They indeed imported it, but they did a very VERY sad job on it. I actually run through floors while I played through levels. The result? A big bugged game. I found a huuuge FAQ (frequently asked question) guide on all the bugs you can find in this game. Folks, it was the biggest bug guide I have ever seen. The people whove imported it on GC didnt even check, or even fix the glitches. Tis was a very sad moment, indeed. I sold it for money afterwards though... went to try another game to enlighten me from this dissapointment. An imported game, hmm.... Well ive Beaten this game 8 times within 6 hours, and Id like to say, this game is one of the best, even though its told that sonic team never got to finish "Sonic Adventure" the original, i give 2 thumbs up, But An annoying problem of the game is, "Im not sure if i can get the egg carrier flying again from the crash site" I dont know how, but my friend did it 3 years ago and i cant remember... But Overall the game of 60 missions, "Adventure Fields" , and even unlockable metal sonic, and E-101 B in his final form, Yes indeed i love this game, Still having fun with these two chars!! Please, help me pay to get help for this trauma. This is the worst game I have ever played. It goes way off track of who Sonic is. It is interesting that you can play as different characters, wait, no its not. Sonic is the only one worth it. He still goes super fast, but his attack is horrible and does not work that well. Tails is interesting, but the same problems as Sonic. Knuckles is way to hard for anyone. Big is super Sonic BORING! Gamma, with his auto aim, provides no challege to shooting but hit the B button. Amy is no fun at all since she is trying solve simple puzzles. The camera will make you look more like you are spying on the character. The Choas kids would be interesting. I just do not want to spend an hour looking for it in a garden as big as my backyard (tiny). The music is horrible and girlish boy style. I cant say any more. My mind is repressing this memory. Im not upset about that; I think Segas doing a great service to people by porting the Dreamcasts best game to a system where more people will notice it. Im really upset, though, that Sega completely butchered this amazing game. Newcomers to the game wont notice this, but I really think that they deserve to play this amazing game without the severe problems that plague this directors cut. Sonic Adventure came out on Segas Dreamcast back in 1999, and it was the first truly 3D Sonic game (Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R dont count). The game opens with the blue blur investigating a strange disturbance in the city of Station Square. A monster named Chaos has come to town, and Sonic takes care of the threat. However, Chaos escapes and later, Sonic finds out that his nemesis, Dr. Robotnik, is using Chaos to try and conquer the world. He plans to collect all seven Chaos Emeralds which, when fed to Chaos, increase his power. With all 7 emeralds, Chaos will become an unstoppable monster and him and Robotnik will destroy Station Square. Robotnik then plans to build a utopian society on the ruins of the city, with himself as dictator. Its up to Sonic to put a stop to the evil scientists plan. Sonic is joined by various characters (friendly and unknown), who are unknowingly part of Robotniks plans. The player starts the game as Sonic, but as the game progresses they can play with 5 other characters, each with their own gameplay style. Sonic, of course, is the speed demon and his levels involve blasting through the levels as fast as possible, just like in the Genesis days. Tailss stages play out similar to Sonics, but as Tails, the player must race another character to the end of the level. Knuckles job is to collect the missing shards of the Master Emerald by exploring the various levels. Other characters include Amy Rose, whose stages play out like slower paced adventure/platform games, Big the Cat, who must fish to finish each level, and E-102 Gamma, a robot who blasts through third person shooting style stages. In between these stages, the characters must explore an overworld that connects each level to one another, much like Super Mario 64. Sounds good, right? Well it is, or its supposed to be anyway. One of the best parts of the game (and one of the things that wasnt completely destroyed in this remake) is the variety of gameplay. Along with the racing on foot, exploration, fishing, shooting, and adventure styles, there are many mini-games here that cover various gameplay styles. In one level, youre snowboarding down a snowy mountain. On another, youre shooting down enemy planes with Tails fighter plane. In others, youre sandboarding through a desert, racing go-karts, playing pinball, or playing a Sonic-themed game of Whack-a-Mole. In addition, theres also the raising of Chaos (pronounced chows) to win races (the whole idea of the Chaos is kind of like Tamagotchi with competitive racing, kind of like horse racing). So thats all good stuff. Everywhere else, we run into severe problems. The graphics looked amazing on the Dreamcast back in 1999, but the graphics have not been upgraded that much for 2003. Sure, the characters look a little shinier and the load times are faster than in the Dreamcast game, but thats about it. Even worse, the game tries to run the action at 60 frames per second (the Dreamcast game ran at an always steady 30 FPS). This isnt a bad idea, since Sonic Adventure 2 ran at 60 FPS throughout. The problem is that the games framerate constantly slows down to a speed that runs worse than the Dreamcast version did. The Gamecube is more powerful than the Dreamcast, isnt it? You wouldnt know that playing this game. Its not that it bogs down every once in a while, either; the game slows down very frequently, and it kills the sensation of speed. The whole point with the Sonic games is that the amazing speed and the sight of your character blasting through levels is supposed to blow you away. To have a poor framerate in a game like this is inexcusable (especially when the game runs worse on the more powerful system). Hey, Sonic Team, Sonic Adventure 2 ran like a dream on the Gamecube (just like it did on Dreamcast), so what gives? Now, hows the sound, music and voices? Well, at least this part of the game stayed intact. Personally, I love the classic sound effects and I think that the voices fit the characters perfectly (even though some are a little goofy like Big). The music in the game is amazingly done, with very high quality tunes (with many different music styles and the use of a real orchestra and instruments), some classic Sonic music and a couple of original vocal songs that perfectly complement the characters and situations in the game. Even better, this Gamecube version has Dolby Pro Logic support, so players can hear the wonderful audio in crisp surround sound. Now for the big question: how does this game play? Well, the horrible framerate really hurts the controls of the game. That aside, though, the Gamecube controller, with its different sized buttons, can be confusing and the game doesnt respond nearly as well as it with the Dreamcasts controller. The camera work has gotten even worse than before (if you can believe that) and the developers stupidly removed the first-person look-around function from the Dreamcast game. This came in handy in certain places, so why did they get rid of it? It makes no sense. I mentioned earlier that the game is a directors cut, so whats new? Well, there are new missions to complete (but no new levels), but the biggest difference is that you can now unlock and play ports of all the Sonic games ever released on the Game Gear (some have never been released in the US until now). My favorite of these is Tails Adventure, a slower paced, 2D game that played out a little like Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link from the NES. I really enjoyed it, and its here in all its glory (just like Sonic Adventure, now more people can be exposed to this great game). You may have not been able to tell from this review, but I am extremely angry at Sega for taking the opportunity to expose more people to Sonic Adventure, but then screwing most everything up. They did the same thing with Sega Smash Pack Volume 1 on Dreamcast, and I was angry then, too. Im angrier now, though, because Sega seems to think that they can lazily port these old games to new consoles with little to no effort, and then believe that the consumers will never catch wise and call them on it. Well, think again, Sega. You may be my favorite game company, but Im not gonna stand for this anymore. If you want to play this game the way it was meant to be played, buy the Dreamcast version instead. The Gamecube version is just an abomination, and if you buy it, itll only encourage Sega to keep up this shameful practice. A lazy port of a great game; go buy the Dreamcast version... Living in the N64 era and being a fan of Sonic (Sega Genesis was my first system; now Im a certified Nintendoid), you can imagine my reaction to the Japanese demo of Sonic Adventure for DC: priceless. My mouth shot open at the exhilirating speed, the (then) flawless graphics, eye-popping cinematics, and the head-banging guitar riffs. From then on SA was the reason for me wanting a Dreamcast. Unfortunately, Segas console-making career tanked before I could get one. Years later, in a move I thought Id never see and one that made me want to kiss my Gamecube, Nintendo took in the homeless hedgehog, his homies and his past blockbusters for release on their systems. I was happy with the GC remake to Sonic Adventures sequel, though a little annoyed with the audio. Something was missing, and here it is. The Directors Cut to Sonic Adventure, which boasts the original game in its entirety with improved graphics, a new mission mode, added extras, and Dolby Surround Sound support. After playing this, however, only parts of those boasts are lived up. Story: Basically, Dr. Eggman (Thanks, Japan! Like there was anything wrong with Robotnik!) is trying to steal the Chaos Emeralds...again. Whats new is the fact that hes using them to power Chaos, an ancient (and kicka**-looking) monster. So Sonics gotta stop him, along with the help of his friends. From the surface, the storyline seems pretty basic. However, each character has a different motive for getting involved in the adventure; playing as each one will also unravel the history of Chaos, which personally still doesnt make much sense. Cool idea, though. Gameplay: You cant play SADX and say it doesnt have variety. You can play as six characters, but only Sonic is unlocked at first. Naturally, youll have the most fun with him, yet youll need to play as everyone to get the whole story and beat the game. Everyone plays through nearly all the same 10 stages, only in different orders and styles. Sonics mission in his stages are usually to release the animals from the prison egg (a lil nostalgia for ya).The difference is that the topsy-turvy level design we all know and love is blown up into 3D. With the exception of a few buggy camera issues, Sonics first thrust into polygonal glory is enjoyable, and speeding through these worlds, bashing robots, and loop-de-looping are all welcome. The controls have always been super-simple. You continue through these levels, linked together by a few boss battles and the hub world. Ah yes, first Mario, now Sonic has to FIND his own adventures. While hes not exactly built to explore freeform lands, these three main worlds work nicely into putting Sonic in a less-linear setting. You can even talk to people and find items. Unfortunately, there are invisible walls and poor collision detection all over the place. Add that to the fact that the game is sinfully easy to beat (with the exception of the final boss). Also, the gameplay is quite varied, but only Sonics levels will be worthwhile. Theres some fun to be had in Knuckles and Gammas levels. But for instance, Big the Cat fishes....thats it. And all Amy does is run from a robot (Fortunately, she only has 3 levels. Let the feminist hate mail begin). Graphics: This is where SADX took a hit in my book. As Ive said, back in 9/9/99, Sonic Adventure sported the sleekest graphics Ive ever seen. Flash to 5 years later, SA does NOT hold up well. The graphics looked good on the revamp of the sequel; why couldnt they next-gen the visuals for this game? Sega managed to add some improvements to the main characters (the lighting makes them look like action figures!) and water effect, but overall everything is polygonally outdated. The animations are worse. They wouldve been better off without facial expressions or lip movement, but now it looks sloppy. The CGI cinematics are still fantastic, but theyre too few and far between the in-game cinematics. But those DC fans looking for their old-school roots in this title will not be disappointed, as the game is still colorful and vibrant. Sound: Lordy, lordy, lordy....what the f**k happened? To show that Im not simply dismanteling Sonic, Ill start with the pros. With more advanced technology, Sega managed to add live music to the game, to great effect. From energetic guitar riffs, jazzy Las Vegas styled tunes (Casinopolis), booming jungle drums (Lost World), brooding piano/techno synths (Gammas theme song; more on that in a sec), and the lively saxophone-driven "Red Mountain" BGM, this music is just as versatile as the gameplay. Now the bad: THEY ADDED BACKGROUND SINGERS!!!!! Bad ones, at that. Its not that they cant sing, but theyre so annoyingly corny, it ruins the whole experience. Every character has a theme song w/a BGS. Worst of all, the lyrics, probably translated straight from Japan, dont even rhyme!! And dont get me started on the VoiceOvers, especially Amys (we wouldve been better off w/Jaleel White as Sonic). Ughh, the cast of the Pokemon series sounds less irritating. Fortunately, you can change the VO language to Japanese if they irk you that much, but you cant stop the singing! Lasting Appeal: As I said, SADX is an enjoyable, if cheesy, romp while it lasts. Simply beat the game w/ each character and...well youll figure it out. The famous/infamous Chao mini-game puts you in charge of tiny virtual pets (who actually appear in the story) to raise, train, and race against others. The animals you free from the robots encountered can be used to power-up your creature. Teach it to walk, run, swim, sing, etc. At first, I thought this would take the spotlight off of Sonic, but it is a suprisingly addictive experience. One of those things you love AND hate at the same time. For further incentive to keep this disc in your GC, there is a Mission mode added to the Directors Cut, which is basically a treasure hunt. Look throughout the hub worlds for Info Cards giving you clues, then find the item or do the action as instructed. The challenging thing is that you have to actually have to backtrack through the action stages to complete the objectives. But the cool thing is that your rewards for finishing enough objectives (and collecting enough emblems) are actual Sonic Game Gear games in their entirety. The more missions you finish, the more classic games you get (and there twice as challaging as SADX, mainly because you cant save). Theres also a special character waiting for you if you get EVERYTHING in the game. And remember, I said it was easy to beat the game the FIRST time. Completing the extra challenges are a different story. I know I went on for a while but basically if you got this game on the DC, dont bother for Gamecube. However, if you missed out thefirst time and dont mind the technical glitches, cop this disc. Was A Classic, Now Loses More Pep In Its Step. Not what I was hoping for... Some games frusterate you, some games make you happy, I dont know what it was about this game, but I got the sensation of both.Oh well, heres my review of Sonic Adventure DX: Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, what would we do without you?Well, I dont know, but I know some of you can do without this game.Bad voice overs, dated graphics and frustration, oh my!Yeah, whatever... Graphics=6/10 Ive never played the DreamCast version, but from what Ive heard, they look exactly the same. Now this is great if youre looking for that classic look, but it would be great to see some enhanced visuals here.Come on! Another thing that bugs me(and it goes for pretty much every 3-D Sonic game)is that every character is way too shiny!Sonic, Tails, Knuckles--theyre all shiny!Animals are not shiny!I know this isnt a very big deal, but it just looks weird. Controls:7/10 Sometimes, the controls are great, but other times, all you have to do is push the analog stick forward for about half of the levels.I need something more interesting. Gameplay:4/10 Most (not including 2-D sidescrolling) Sonic games have the worst camera ever.Youre running along, then all of a sudden, theres a wall in your face. Also, the game is way too hard!I dont know where to go or what to do half the time! Most of the hints they give you is:"Go to the (insert place) you might find something!"Whoop-dee-do, I might find something. Music:6/10 No comment. Replay value:3/10 When youre stuck, the best resorce is the Word Wide Web.But Im too lazy to go on the internet to find some stupid hint for some stupid game. After I get stuck, and try to figure it out numerous times, I give up.Its just not fun for me anymore. Overall:4/10 MAKE A NEW SONIC GAME FOR GODS SAKE!Im sick of all these remakes, nobody has any innovative ideas anymore.Sonic Heroes is a step up, but thats just one game. One game out of all the amazing minds working at Sega, you made Nights, I want something interesting again. Bursting with coolness. by: thenoevilkiller On: 2004-07-10 Theres a lot going on in this game and so many devices and sub-games to keep you addicted. Not so much a DX than an updated version of the Sonic Adventure, from the now obsolete Dreamcast, with better graphics, new missions and loads of extras. You play the game as seven different characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big the Cat, The Robot Dude and (much later) Super Sonic. The Sonic, Tails and Knuckles levels are the best. The Big the Cat levels are really boring and slow. Each character has their own story and their own power-ups, all happening at the same time. The result is almost an RPG-like game. If this were taken a few steps further who knows how great the game could have been. Though its still brilliant as it is. The structure is also genius and easy to get to grips with. As whatever character, you run around massive levels like Station Square and The Mystic Ruins which leads to many different action stages. The action stages can range between casinos, snowboarding, racing through sky-high circuits, go-carting, flying around in Tails red bi-plane, flying through wind tunnels, chases across the city rooftops and racing across sandy beaches. As always the Sonic world (curiously earthlike and nothing like the planet Mobius from before) is absolutely gorgeous with an exotic feel, eternal sunshine and the bluest of skies. What I like best about the game are the Chao. The cute little creatures you hatch and raise between levels. They are so great they became my reason for getting through the game. And as a bonus all Sonic games from the old Sega Game Gear are included. Each one is unlocked after every 20 emblems collected (1 awarded after each mission complete and others scattered about levels). Some parts of the game can be awfully repetitive. Certain FMV sequences were used more than once and there was no point in that. And intros to certain parts of the game took too long and became quite annoying when losing a life and starting again. The self-controlled camera was cool and useful. Though in cramped quarters it seemed to get stuck and being unable to see the character due to the spasming camera sometimes resulted in the loss of a life. That was quite annoying. The music is great and I strongly suggest you get all the soundtrack CDs (I did). There are brilliant, fun-loving themes that totally carry the action along. The voices however, were a bit off from the original Japanese lip movements. A totally brilliant game that you simply must get. Sonic Adventure DX will keep you entertained for ages. You Can Play 2 players! Actually, at first I was bumbed about the 2 player action only being choa races and that stuff. Dont get me wrong this game is still really a good game, just the 4 stars meant its not the greatest. It is worth your money. But I thought it was one of the best games ever when I found this out. O.K. 1) play a 1 player game with Sonic that has tails hanging around him. 2)If U plug in a controller in the 2nd slot, and just play around with it, U finally figure out that youre playing Tails! 3) Tails is almost indestuctable this way, so U can help out 1 player. Just stay close to Sonic( or U cant see yourself on the screen) and when hes in trouble, U can collect him rings, fly in hard 2 reach places, and fight of bad-guys. chalenging but fun (hints) by: Anonymous On: 2004-06-04 in the game i beat most of the guys levels knuckles , tails e-102 gammas y but when e-102 and its your final battle against betta attack after he uses light blast then attack him. when knuckle and your battling chaos 6 use the floating guys to freeze him then attack with a jump (jumps get rid of him better) tails is complicated when you are bttaling e-102 gamma DONT USE TAIL SLASH it will bearly ever work jumping is your best attack. chalenging but fun (hints) in the game i beat most of the guys levels knuckles , tails e-102 gammas y but when e-102 and its your final battle against betta attack after he uses light blast then attack him. when knuckle and your battling chaos 6 use the floating guys to freeze him then attack with a jump (jumps get rid of him better) tails is complicated when you are bttaling e-102 gamma DONT USE TAIL SLASH it will bearly ever work jumping is your best attack. Pretty interesting, but not as challenging as it's original I remember with fondness playing Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, and I found myself having a very difficult time. When the directors cut came out, I was excited. I hoped they would add a few things to the story. I was wrong. It was very fun playing the game again, but I felt it was too easy. Many of the levels I had trouble with on the Dreamcast version were so easy. Chao raising was still very fun, but I never got the hang of racing. Other than that I had a very good time playing it. One of the worst games ever by: Anonymous On: 2004-05-09 I am definitely a sonic fan, but i have to say this is a horrible game. The controls are absolutely horrible, where the game kills you needlessly when it blows you around the stages. Also, it gets very repetitive and boring, its basically the same stages over and over again with different people. I would advise not getting this. For young people, it would just not be fun and the same ole thing. For older people, you will just be dissappointed with the poor controls and handling. Dr. Eggman is fat! Alright children. This is a fun little game. I remember back in the olden days when us kids drink some nutritious cranberry juice and play a game of Pop Goes The Goosey Woosey. This is game is just as fun, if not better. Heres what happens. Well, theres annoying little blue hedgehog. He can run really fast. I remember back in the olden days when me and little Jimmy used to have races to see who got the bigger piece of gooseberrry pie. So anyways, its a very fun game. I took off two stars (WAIT! I remember back in the olden days when I used to look at my lucky stars. One time I was looking at my lucky stars and little Jimmmy threw a piece of gooseberry pie at my head.) Anyways, I took off two stars because Mr. Barnaby (I remember we head a neighbor named Barnaby back in the olden days. He taught me and little Jimmy how to make gooseberry pies) Eggman (I remember we used eggs back in the olden days to make gooseberry pies) is perhaps the fattest, uglyiest person ever! Sleep tight childeren and eat plenty of gooseberry pies! A classic. One of the best games of all time.Period. by: Anonymous On: 2004-04-12 While all the old levels and characters are in this game there are a few new finishing touches to make the whole experience worthwhile. That would be the slightly repolished graphics and the unlockable Game Gear games.Of the 12 or so games I only unlocked 2.The first Sonic Game Gear game which is very nice and Sonic Drift which is pretty fun but has terrible controls. If you bought this game for the Game Gear games alone you shouldnt have. They are very very hard to unlock and its easier just to buy an old Game Gear and those games or just buy a Game Boy Player and play the Sonic Advance games. As for the story it is pretty interesting not as good as the story in Sonic Adventure 2 but still pretty entertaining especially the parts about Gamma. The camera angles really arent that bad.I mean there were only 2 times in the whole game where the camera looked uneven. The graphics look a little better but still pretty much the same. Its just as fun as the sequel and the levels are more original because this game is the original.Okay enough talk its time for you to run out and buy this.Thanks. An excellent game with few flaws. by: Anonymous On: 2004-03-14 Sonic Adventure will always be a classic in my mind and deserves a place in video game history as one of the best games of all time. Its even been compared to Super Mario 64. While the gameplay is just as solid and the soundtrack equally as wonderful(every character except Gamma has a special song at the end and theyre all great) this game is very original. You play as 6 characters and theyre all different and have their own levels though the names of these levels are the same. While it may not be as popular and succesful as Mario 64 was it is definitely a must have for any fan of platform games.Nuff said EXCELLENT OF THE BEST THIS GAME IS SO MUCH FUN I COMPLETED ALL OF TAILS KNUCKLES AND BIGS LEVELS AND COLLECTED 56 EMBLEMS AND UNLOCKED 3 SONIC GAME GEAR GAMES I LAUGHED WHEN BIG SLAMMED HIS TAIL IN THE ELEVATOR DOOR BIG HES COOL ENOUGH TO BE A GOOD BEST FRIEND JUST LIKE SONIC AND I FALLED IN LOVE WITH TIKAL I THINK SHE IS REAL PRETTY ALSO WHEN THE CHARACTER TALKS TO A PERSON IN STATION SQUARE MYSTIC RUINS AND THE JUNGLE IS FUN SO I RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO ALL OF SONIC FANS A decent game brought down with way too many flaws. The Sonic series is a great one, and while Sonic Adventure was the real big deal back in 1999 on Segas, unfortunately, short-lived Dreamcast console, its been ported over the Nintendos Gamecube for cash-in purposes 4 years later. Does it hold up? Well....yes and no. The good: The games textures, and sense of speed, for 1/3 of the time, hold up pretty well. The Sonic levels are easily the most enjoyable, and although only 10, truly are alot of fun when at high speeds. Sonics levels are well-designed and fully recapture the excellence of the 2-D Blast-Processed Sonic from the early 90s, you will be hopping from one platform to the next with Sonics homing attack, and youll be racing down skyscrapers, get chased by a giant whale, snowboard away from a giant snowball down a mountain, somewhat Indiana-Jones-ish, and fight Robotnik till your hearts delight. With the 6 characters, the game isnt without depth, and has a decent enough story for a Sonic fan, showing what happened to Knuckles people, how the Chaos emeralds came to be along with the Master Emerald, this answers some questions. Two other characters games are also rather enjoyable - Tails and Knuckles, I believe. Tails levels play like smaller portions (the best portions) of Sonics levels where you try to beat Sonic to the animal capsule at the end of the levels, and in one case, race Robotnik himself. Knuckles sets you off searching for shards of the master emerald, and this mode of play actually was alot less fun in the 2nd Sonic Adventure (ported to the GC before the first one though), actually, it wasnt fun at all in that one, but exploring the huge levels was alright. In this game, its easier to find the emeralds with smaller levels, which are actually not too poorly designed, actually I really like em myself. And when you find the three emerald peices, you have an overwhelming sense of satisfaction - unlike a "Thank God, thats over!" that you get from the second game (first on Gamecube though). So these parts of the game were very good in 1999 and still hold up and are fun today. Now for the bad....... The Bad: Three other unwanted characters are here, and are merely bit players in Sonics universe, but make up 1/2 of this game anyway, and this half, while not unberable (Thanks to Gamma), is still pretty weak. Yeah, you get Amy Rose, the annoying, but ever-optimistic Sonic loving girl, who has to escape a robot and protect a bird in each level. The levels usually are Sonics too, but Amy aint speedy, and these linear levels aint meant for walking. When the game slows down, it SLOWS DOWN, and the results arent pretty, such is the case with Amys game, and Bigs. Big: What the heck? You get to fish, with some of the worst controls imaginable, and a terrible camera system (more on that sooner). The graphics in these FUN FISHIN ADVENTURES (not) dont hold up as well as the others either, featuring lame, lame, LAME, water effects. I know, this is a 1999 game, but still, they couldve been enhanced for the GCN version to at least match the Second SAs (first SA on GCN though) water effects. Or it could be Im just spoiled by Super Mario Sunshine. ANYWAYS, Next is E-102 Gamma whose game isnt bad, but not exactly all that good either. This style of lock on laser robot gameplay returned in the second SA (First on GCN though) and was much improved. In this one, youre timed and its too slow. So it doesnt add up, so to speak. Now for the many, many design flaws. Horrible collision detection. Youll be speeding along with Sonic on a loop, barely touch some rock or something, stick to it, and come to a full halt - losing all speed in the process. Not to mention, the game is plagued by places where you can fall through the floors, and in one occurance, walk through walls, or plunge to your death in botomless pits that you cant see, thanks to the games poor camera. There was a new feature added to this port over its DC original for the camera (switch between auto & manual) but it doesnt help at all, and almost hampers this already bad camera problem even more. The games graphics are enhanced supposedly for this GC release, and the character models do look great (but are still behind their SA2:B counterparts), and the textures are still mighty fine, but the framerate. Holy hell. Youll be speeding along with Sonic at 60 fps, and the framerate will decide to dip to 30 fps, and sometimes even as low as 15. This is not right. I barely can notice slowdown in any other games, but this, indeed, is downright atrocious. Now for the final flaw, and it may be the biggest of all: The adventure mode is split up into two parts: Action Stages and Adventure Fields. These adventure fields are pretty much hubs tying all these action stages together. Unfortunately, the adventure fields are very, very, very poorly designed, feature deplorable collision detection, and feel like a chore more than anything else. Youll have to find something somewhere to get to the next action stage, and this slows the action down, admittedly. Which is why it was fixed in the second game, that was the first on GCN, if I havent told you already, harhar. The Final Word: Best of Sonic Yet! by: Anonymous On: 2004-02-05 We know you all love sonic, and if not, you better try this game out. The levels are awesome and the characters are sweet. But most of all, the game itself is the best. It has all the players, the levels and the fun games and thats mostly why I like the game. The character you start out with is Sonic. Eventually, you get Tales, Knuckles, Amy, Big, and E102 (the robot guy). My favorite level is with E102 where you have to beat Superbeta. Destroying Superbeta is hard because he has a superblaster and direct missiles. The only way to hit him is when hes doing the orange shield attack- then you shoot him from behind. This is an example of the fun yet challenging levels in the game. Best of Sonic Yet! We know you all love sonic, and if not, you better try this game out. It. Was. Awesome. In earlier games, it was good, but, yes, repititive. This gives you a whole new outlook on the game. Sonic and his speed, Tails and his flying ability, Knuckles and his ever-continuing search for the Master Emerald shards, and then (finally) Amy Rose, whom I have known for quite some time to kick butt. I was waiting for her to come out of the comic... And dont forget Big and E-102! Two newer characters. Bigs adventure was slightly... boring. Im not fond of fishing, but it was a bit more entertaining than the real thing.. (I have no patience..) And I loved how in the end it all made sense. With the flash backs and all, that was neat. *nod nod* Tikal and the chao backgrounds helped with the plot. In conclusion, I must say that it was very very nice to see something new, yet familiar in a Sonic game. Leona (Dont forget the Chao!) THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! yeah thats what isaid back in 99 when it first came out. now when i bought it again hoping for a nice little trip down memory lane I was like "HOW MUCH DID I PAY FOR THIS!!!?!?!?!" yeah not good. there isnt even a multiplayer mode on it. and the chao system isnt even half as advanced as the one in SA2Battle. the framerate is worse than it was back on dreamcast. i gave it a 1 but i wish i could have gone lower. its outdated poo. but hey if you actually want to play through all the boring challenges and stuff you can unlock....drum roll please. GAME GEAR GAMES!!!! oh yeah and they are really aweful as well. so yeah the only thing that I think this game has going for it is its pretty box art. other than that...stay away please. if you wanna spend $40 on a sonic game, pick up the Mega Collection. those games a fun. Good Game Hampered By Design Problems Ive always enjoyed the Sonic Games, and Sonic Adventure offers fast speed and action--for the Sonic levels, anyway. For the rest of the game, players will take control of platform-centered levels with Tails and Rose, treasure-hunting with Knuckles, shoot-em up levels with Gamma, and fishing (fishing? Yes, fishing,) with Big the Cat. The Sonic levels are by far the most fun, but have a few minor problems; namely, the camera and some slight control issues. Sonics homing attack sometimes gets out of hand, with Sonic floating aimlessly through the air as he looks for the enemy you told him to attack. When Sonic builds up enough speed on some of the faster levels (like Windy Valley or Speed Highway,) its hard to control him, so hell be bouncing off walls. It doesnt really slow his speed down, but its kind of distracting all the same. Theres just not enough of the high-speed levels; playing as Tails is fun, but the Knuckles, Gamma, and Rose levels are mediocre, and the Big levels are a mess. Give a rental first, then buy. SA:DX is awesome! by: Anonymous On: 2003-12-06 Ive played the Dreamcast version of this game, but this one really surpasses it! The characters have FINGERS, they are much better designed, plus all the Game Gear games you can unlock. The game itself is a thrill ride, especially with Sonic. In the DC version, I felt a grip on me, like I HAD to be in control. But this GCN version is alot quicker and looser. It feels alot better, like SA2 or SA2:B. The one bad thing about this game? Despite the fact that they improved the models, the mouths dont follow the characters speech. Bottom line: this game is basicly an improved version of the hit Dreamcast game but is still great and it is the best Sonic game for any one 14 and under (Note: the age factor may vary depending on the persons view of Sonic the Hedgehog). This Game Rules!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-11-14 Sonic DX is a great game, including 6 characters, including one defect from Dr. Robotnic (a.k.a Eggman, but Ive played every Sonic game excluding the Dreamcast one, and Eggmans Mean Bean Machine, so Im an oldie). Also, if you beat all the 6 characters storylines you get an additional super-secret character "campaign" that goes head-on with a super-villian. I wont spoil it for you, but Ill just say that all those stupid hours of fishing as Big is paid off with the bonus character. And for you fellow oldies, if you have ever gotton all the Chaos Emerlands, or all the Super Emerlands, yes that is the person that you get, if you know what I mean. Anyways, its a great game, and if you like Sonic definantly get this game. For more facts on the game itself, check some other reviews as Im not a big fan of the Mission Campaign,or Chao raising and Im sure that the other reviews may have better facts than the some that I know of. Oh Yeah Sonic!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-29 This game was awsome, although Iloved Sonic Adventure 2 battle more. sa2b had a better story that will catch your heart. Sonic DX is a very nice game too. You could even get up to 12 classical sonic games. Only worth picking up if you can look far past its problems Sonic Adventure DX is supposed to be a nearly identical copy of the Sega Dreamcast title, Sonic Adventure, but something drastic has been lost in its translation to the GameCube. This game is severely lacking the feel of its Dreamcast version and, on top of that, it seems to be full of glitches. The first flaw most players will notice are the very akward camera angles. In this version of the game, players have very little control over the games camera and, as a result, will often have their characters suffer death from an unseen enemy or pit. The second flaw players will likely notice are the glitches in the games platforms. While progressing through certain levels, players can suddenly find their characters falling through floors and walls that *should* be solid and impermeable. (The passability glitches in the floors and walls always occur in the same places, so players *can* avoid them once learning where they are.) If you are willing to deal with the frustration of frequent, random character death, then you might find this game to be a lot of fun. Otherwise, you should probably avoid it and find a good platform title elsewhere. Sonic time is back when you start the game you only have Sonic to use in the game later you would start to find more people in the game tp use when you see Big in the game he well be unlocked in the game the people are: Amy another cute thing is the choas you get new gardens in a new stage you get 2 eggs in each garden so you would start out with 6 eggs there are 3 hidden eggs a gold, a slver, and a black Excellent game by: darthkommissar On: 2003-09-09 Though the Dreamcasts reign of power was a short lived one, it certainly spawned a few masterpieces. Sonic Adventure is one of those masterpieces. And, the game has received new life on the Nintendo Gamecube! Read on to see why this is a title worth owning. Graphics: Excellent graphics that are simple and to the point. Up close some objects appear pixelated, but isnt it that way in every game? The camera is a bit faulty at times, but it isnt terrible. 4/5 Play Control: The controller has a lot of buttons, but fortunately this game doesnt make you use all of them. This combined with the fact that the Gamecube controller is very comfortable make for an excellent gaming session. 4.25/5 Challenge: Some parts of this game are a breeze, while others are living nightmares. Enough said. 3.5/5 Theme/Fun: Sonics side-scrolling adventures were fun, but no one can deny they were a bit repetitive. But in three dimensions with six different characters, this game is anything but. There are six characters total (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, and E-102.) Each character has strengths and weaknesses, and some have levels that the others dont. Unfortunately, this ISNT a good thing in every way. All of Bigs stages are basically fishing, and the fishing controls are terrible. The other characters are just fine though, and this is an excellent game. 4.25/5 Storyline: Basically what youd expect from a Sonic game. Eggman is back to create havoc. This time he has awakened a creature called Chaos, and is trying to collect seven jewels called Chaos Emeralds. Each time he feeds this creature one of the legendary emeralds, its power greatly increases. Accordingly, Sonic and company must get the emeralds before Eggman does. 3.75/5 Sound/Music: The sounds are, for the most part, revamps of classic Sonic game sounds. The game serves up an awesome, hard-rocking musical score that sure to please nearly any gamer. 4/5 Originality: Basically its a classic Sonic game in 3D. Dont worry though, the games got plenty of originality (the snowboarding level is a prime example of this.) Obviously this isnt the games greatest strength, but the other categories more than make up for it. 3.5/5 Replay Value: Six different characters to play through the game with. Bonus minigames not in the classic Dreamcast game. Youll be playing this one for a while. 4.5/5 Overall: If youre a Gamecube owner and you dont own this game, you deserve to be taken out and beaten. This is how 3D gaming should be done - simple and to the point. Sonic Adventure is an excellent example of what modern video gaming should be. Got a Gamecube? If you dont have this game yet, GET IT. ITS THAT GOOD. 4.25/5 Don't believe reviewers For some odd reason reviewers have difficulty with this game. I dont know why, its lush visuals and pure speed combine with chao caretaking and minigames to produce something so awesome your mama will be blown away. Sonic adventure on the dreamcast was good enough to get a perfect review, and now an enhanced one gets a good review. BUY THIS GAME IMMEDIATELY, BEST GAME ON THE CUBE. GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-08-16 Sonics in a whole new world!! All new graphics, new and inproved characters, sweet powerups, and chaos can port!!!!!!!! This game is a have to buy!!!! And one more thing: TOTAL CHAOS!!!!!!!! PLEASE,BUY THIS GAME!! And have fun!!! Sonic. This game is great, but if you have a dreamcast hooked up with Sonic Adventure, its not really worth your money. Mediocre Adventure My wife and 9-year-old son were not thrilled with this title. They like the better adventure games, but ones that are too esoteric or finicky are not to their liking. Players that have plenty of time may find it intriguing, but ones with only moderate amounts of time may find it frustrating. Travel at "Sonic" speed! This is the most action packed E-rated game there is!I already beat the game because I was hooked on it!If you like Sonic, this is the game to buy! Travel at "Sonic" speed! Mirror Image by: Anonymous On: 2003-08-05 When i first heard this game was called the "directors cut" I immediatally thought "new levels, new missions, added features and probably an updated chao garden" but no all i got was a re-released version of Sonic Adventure for the dreamcast. Yes its exactly the same game, no new script, no new levels, no upgraded chao garden, just some unlockable Sonic game gear unlockables. Now ill admit i like the added game gear games, its just that they really shouldnt put DX or directors cut on the game when it has the same graphics as the dc or the same lines as they had in the game. They really couldve changed the music too, its mustly heavy metal rock bands from the 80s. Ok maybe im a little tough on it but what do you expect from a five year re-released game. Sega really shouldve spent more time on this one then maybe i wouldnt be rambling on and on about this sick excuse for a remake/directors cut game. Sonic dx to buy or not to buy? well first off i would like to say that the story is fully brilliant and fun at the same time, and easy to follow. but.. the voice overs are a bit lacking.. now i am a HUGE fan of sonic adventures and this was great. the graphics are good. the gameplay is ok... and the controls are really simple and overall entertaining. the main story is trying to stop a monster called chaos who the more he eats emeralds the more powerfull he is. now.. about CHAO. chao are creatures like tamagotchi.. if you think you will only buy this game for chao then buy sonic adventure 2 battle if you have it already then get this one. SADX is good for raising chao. they react to your actions for example throwing them against a wall :) but there is no chao kindergarden or doctor and you cant fight or learn karate. you can only race. both games feature the ability to transfer chaos to gameboy.. so if you have both it is great to teach in SA2B and learn and raise in SADX. I can lose the DreamCast at last! Its a wonderful thing when you favorite game is for an obsolite console and it gets remaid for your gamecube better than ever! This wonderful game is a must by for anyone. The story mode is expansive and identical to SonicAdventure, exept for slightly altered voice acting to impove quality. Did I mention they also fixed the graphics problems? They did, and now it looks beautiful! I cant explain it, you have to see the difference for your self! Plus theres the all new mission mode in which you run around the adventure field completing tasks, after youve finished that characters story of course. Plus, every 20 emblems you collect, you unlock one of the original sonic games to be played from the Mini-Games menu, which apears when you unlock the first game(Sonic the HedgeHog). Even if you have to sell you bed to aford it, if you a sonic fan this one is a need not a want. I can lose the DreamCast at last! To keep this review short I must ask first of all who named this game?!? When you think of directors cut you think oh, this is going to be a naughty version of sonic. No its not for all you naughty gamers out there. This game is just a remake of a 4 year old game with better graphics. Sure it has more missions and game gear games, but is it worth your money? i beat this game in 3 days and after that I got bored, fast. So please if you must play this game rent it and after a few days youll get tired of the game, too. This Game is the BEST!!!!!! This is a great remake of a great game!!! It is better than sonic adventure 2:battles remake in so many ways! it has a way better way to do stages.in sonic adv. 2 they have a cheap uninteresting way to go between stages. it will show a movie and go on to the next stage. pretty boring no interaction. but in sonic adv. 1 you can explore three areas and go to your stages. They are 1.Station Square (the town that sonic lives in. stages include speed highway, emerald coast, casinopolis, and many others) 2.Mystic Ruins (this place is fun to explore and has many different sections in it.stages include windy valley, lost world, snow mountian, and many more!) 3.Egg Carrier (this is dr. robotnik a.k.a. eggmans ship. stages include sky deck , hot shelter, plane flying mini game, and a few bosses!) Those stages that I gave you are only sonic! hes only ONE character. thats not even all his stages! there are 5 more playable characters!!! including an ending game with super sonic!!! Its fun to explore the areas and play extra stuff. the goal is to get 130 emblems. as you get 20 emblems each time you get a new game gear game on the gamecube! that is only one bonus with the special features. There is a new mission mode to do various tasks throughout the areas! For this new remake the enhanced the chao compatability! you can get hero or dark chaos unlike in dreamcast!! They have the black market too! its a lot better than sonic adv. 2. The characters you can play as are Sonic(the one and only!), Tails(sonics sidekick), Knuckles(the master emerald guarder), Amy(if youve played sonic cd or soinc racing then you know her!), Big the Cat (a new character the made up. he fishes and thats about it. not very exciting unless you like staring at water.), E 102(a robot that robotnik made and hes bad at first but gets good after he sees wat robotnik treats his robots like and help from amy) BOTTOM LINE!!! IF YOU LIKE SONIC THE YOULL LOVE THIS GAME! WHEN I GOT IT FOR DREAMCAST I WAS SO EXCITED! I WAS JUST AS EXCITED ABOUT GETTING THIS! SONIC ADVENTURE 2 IS A GREAT GAME BUT THIS IS EVEN BETTER!!! THIS IS A ---MUST BUY--- IF YOUR A TRUE SONIC FAN!!!!! Sonic Kicks Butt I like Sonic. Normally I wouldnt buy him cause the games are to short. But when Nintendo sold those preview discs, I played it and it was kinda fun.... the same ol' s""t by: twistag On: 2003-07-08 Sonic Adventure DX: Directors Cut is, conceptually, a great idea. The game is among the blue hedgehogs finest, and the list of extra features is a Sonic fans dream come true. Unfortunately, the execution looks and feels rushed, resulting in an unbalanced end product. As advertised, Sonic Adventure DX contains a slew of extras, like every Sonic game ever released on the Game Gear handheld, a brand-new Mission mode with 60 objectives, and Game Boy Advance connectivity options that let you raise Chao and unlock links for other GameCube Sonic games. Those are all cool features, but its a different story when you get to the main portion of the game. The graphics have been polished with detailed textures, but the already problematic camera angles have gotten worse. The visuals also break up and have serious collision detection issues. These collision hiccups also adversely affect the controls, which otherwise feel good. The audio has been spiced up with a Dolby Pro Logic II option, which sounds great albeit a tad too loud. The dialogue is the same as in the Dreamcast version and is not intended to be as goofy as it sounds, but its certainly not irritating. Who would have thought a few years ago that virtually every major Sonic game would be available on the GameCube? Sonic Adventure DX is a deeper, more interesting game than its sequel, but the camera and collision problems hurt the overall experience. Only recommended for serious Sonic enthusiasts and completists. One of the worlds best games by: Anonymous On: 2003-07-06 All I can say is WOW! The Dreamcast version is good but this is great ( Sorry about sonding like Tony the tiger )! With improved graphics, 2 player mode, portable chaos, and I could name about 999999999999999999 good things about this game. It's bad, but who cares? What this really boils down to is a mediocre game wrapped up in a nice package. The action stages in this game needed a lot more work than they received. The biggest problem is the way that walls tend to stop you if you touch them. But even bigger than that is the way you never really do anything in the game. Theres no difficult platforming or challenging enemies. Its all just one big giant sprint from point A to point B. And thats only when youre taking an active role in the game, which seems to be about half the time. So Sonic didnt really turn out all that well in 3D. So what? For some weird reason I cant explain, Im glad I bought this game. Maybe its because, in this simple videogame world, Im just glad I can help Tails believe in himself. Maybe its because, between the horrible facial animation and the overdone voice work, I see a web of friendships that I wish I could have. Who knows? Playing this game gave me a warm sense of familiarity that I dont find very often. At any rate, the game does have its high points. Most people bash SAs music, but I think it was very well-done. The song lyrics are about as cheesy as Engrish can get, but Jun Senoue deserves some recognition for the polish he put on the games music. The BGM for the Casino and the Red Rock areas in particular is simply fantastic. Props, also, to the East 4th Horns. And while it was a kind gesture to include the Game Gear Games, youll either have to cheat, or spend many tedious hours, to unlock the good ones. Ill cheat. I cant really recommend this game, but on the other hand, I cant say it deserves all the negative treatment either. Perhaps the only people that really should pick it up are the ones that made that decision a long time ago. Good news and bad First, the good news: Every Sonic game released for SEGAs Game Gear is unlockable by collecting Sonic Emblems by completing goals in SA DX. The linkable ones even support 2 players via split screen! Now, the bad news: Sonic Adventure suffered problems with the jolting camera wresting control from you and causing unplanned plummets to your doom in its original release on the SEGA Dreamcast. Four years later, in this purportedly enhanced version for the Nintendo Game Cube, you would think these problems would have been smoothed over. Think again. Not only are the camera/control problems actually worse, they have been joined by collision detection problems in the landscapes. Sonic Adventure is a great game, but expect a great deal of frustration as you suffer losses which are no fault of your own, but rather the effect of less than adequate programming quality. It's still fun by: longshotex On: 2003-06-30 I bought this because I loved Sonic Adventure 2 for Gamecube. Sonic Adventure DX is a bit of a let down. The graphics look beautiful and most of the sound is great. But the controls are much more difficult in this game. In the Chao garden youll often make mistakes trying to interact with your Chao. Instead of petting it you might accidentally spin away. The controls were much tighter in Sonic Adventure 2. Also, DX has a big slow down problem. In a game that is all about speed the screen comes to a crawl way too often. On the bright side, the characters look great, the levels look beautiful and its still ultra fun to play. So... Graphics: 4.5 Sonic is cool 4ever!! I just bought this game a few days ago and its been fun ever scince. Its hard at some parts though but thats ok. This game can be beaten in a week or so with one guy. But it will take longer with all guys and each guy has diff missions so its always fun. And with all the sweet extras youll be playing it 4 a fun long time. Trust me. (-: Great game but when is it gonna arrive in my mailbox? This is a great game because its a rerelease of Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast onto a new system. I used to have a Dreamcast but it broke shortly after I beat this game so its a godsend that its now on Game Cube which is a much more satisfying system than the Dreamcast and N64. I preordered this game but it hasnt arrived in my mailbox yet.It may just be me but when I preordered it it said the game was going to be released on the 14th instead of the 24th.I hope this doesnt mean the game isnt going to arrive because I preordered it too early. It may just be a patience thing but if it isnt Im gonna have to wait till September so I can get this game for my birthday. The best game of all!!!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-06-26 I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!! This game has much things to do. Is one of the best games i ever played! Is not the same as the original Sonic Adventure of Dreamcast! There are the Gamegear games, that maybe are classic but still are cool! Theres also a secret character that wasnt in the original Sonic Adventure (is not Super Sonic). Also, the new missions are good and the Chao Gardens are more interesting too. The graphics are wonderful, also with the music and the levels and all the game!!!You can connect it to Sonic Pinball Party, Sonic Advance and Sonic Advance 2. Is a great game! Buy it now!!! Sonic Adventure DX=Buy This game starts of seeming lame but it gets really good after the first part i am proud that i bought this game. buy it! sonic ah man! this game is so cool and so much fun. just finished the gamecube version and ya gotta love it...especially super sonic! Gee, talk about a double standard Ive noticed across the internet that people are complaining about the graphics on Sonic Adventure DX, saying they are only relatively improved. So tell me this, when The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Master Quest was released, why didnt anyone complain about those unimproved graphics? The gameplay is still great, but I will admit that the graphics lack in several areas, and the framerate is a little off. It does feature Progressive Scan and Dolby Pro Logic II sound, which is a plus. This is enjoyable for the biggest Sonic fans and completionists, and it does cost...less than any other new game. Sonic Adventure DX sonic adventure dx is a good game anyone who likes the classics will love this one with the new features alowes you to have more fun with it i love it and if your a sonic fan you will love it and bye the way game gear was a classic. A bit of lagging and slowdown. I used to have this for the Dreamcast. So I knew this would be good. The only complaint I have is that the Gamecube version has a bit of slowdown and lagging, at least on my game. I dont know if its with all the games. Also in my game there were times when I happened to walk through a wall and died or I ran and went through a rail on a bridge. I dont think Sega ported the game over that well. I dont remember that happening in the Dreamcast version. The only graphical difference I noticed was the water. I think its different, maybe its just me. Its a pretty good game but the only complaint is that the game has lagging and slow downs while running in the game and that I fall and died when I happen to run into a wall or off a bridge. Then again like I said it may just be my game. Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut This Game Is Awesome,The Gameplay is Unbeileveable. I will buy this, but in truth, this game can be a challenge. For some of sonics emblems in the original, you had to beat each level in under two minutes. Theres many ways that Sonics 3D games could be improved, unfortunately, Sega missed every one of them with this sad excuse for a quick-cash-game. Directors what? "DX" is basically exactly the same as "Sonic Adventure" for Dreamcast, but (as the promotional materials rave) "with extra features". Im sorry, but "classic" Game Gear Sonic games and some more of those insanely difficult "beat the level in 2 minutes" missions isnt anything worth adding. Am I the only one that realizes that Game Gear had NO CLASSICS? Thats why it failed! I can understand how GameCube owners who havent played the original "SA" would like this, but seriously, when you already own the game and have beat it, why buy it again for some stupid features, unnecessary missions, and more of that Chao garbage? Graphical improvements? No. From the screenshots Ive seen, it has only one graphical improvement: the toes of Sonics shoes are now rounded. Oh, wow... Now THIS is what I call a game If you thought Metroid Prime and Starfox Adventures were the best games on this planet, think again! SA DX beats them all! I have nearly every single Sonic game that has been released since Sonic was first released on the Genesis! NO LIE! And I thought those games were great. Dont get me wrong, they still are! Lemme, just correct what the editors notes said. The 6 characters are E-102 Gamma, Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna, Big the Cat, and Miles Tails Prower. E-102 Gamma, targets and destroys things, Sonic has to go through action stages, Amy has to escape a robot, Knuckles has to find pieces of the Master Emerald, Big has to fish for Froggy, and Tails has his own little action stage. This game is very fun and I encourage other people to play it too. sonic dx report i think sonic dx will be an awesome game to play and relive the old sonic adventure for dreamcast because you will fight chaos, a monster dr. eggman created that was meant to destroy sonic, but chaos didnt. it threw a big surprise at me when my friend david told me about this, so i went online checked it out and wanted to write a report on this game, because i have played basically all the sonic games that have been released. i have been playing all kinds of sonic games since i was at least 2 years old. i am looking forward to playing this on June 13th, because i will get out of school and buy this game the same day! my mom even promised me that i would get it that day. thank you for making this game SEGA!!! better on cube? this year is definatly the year to get a cube especialy with top games such as this one. This is a perfect remake of a perfect game, get this now Super speed is at it again!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-05-08 Sonic Adventure was a great game, and Sonic Adventure is going to be a lot better than Sonic Adventure. Its great that Sonic Adventure is going to the #1 game system...GAMECUBE!!! I hope you will like the game as much as I will. SEEYA!! The blue blur is back and hes the best reason to own a Cube. You will never get sick of playing this game.I guarantee it.I used to have a Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.But this takes the cake. Its absolutely amazing to see how good this game is.Its almost perfect. Its a masterpiece.Every character has about 6 or so levels and there are new mini games this time around. It is a lot more substantial and breathtaking than Sonic Adventure 2 is. This game is the best reason to own a Game Cube. Some might claim Zelda and Metroid as the best but let me tell you this game is the most fun Ive had ever doing anything. Its hardly ever frustrating and even when it is you have those gorgeous graphics to feast your eyes on.Also theres a rumor thats out that there are Sonic Game Gear games on here. That would be excellent and even if its just a rumor the game SA DX is above so much else. Sonic Adventure DX Back when I sold my Dreamcast Sonic Adventure was one game I couldnt get for any of the newer consoles. But now I really happy to hear it is coming for GameCube! I noticed some changes, Sonic gets a much needed makeover! and maybe a few of the other characters. I also saw a picture of Amy, Knuckles, and Tails in the first stage. Now people that have played Sonic Adventure know Amy and Knuckles can not go there, have they opened more levels to the other characters? I hope so! I also heard about a 4 player mode? Im not to sure about that so dont get all worked up... But that would be sweet! Most are rumers but Sonics "new look" is a sure thing. For more info on Sonic Adventure DX go to: AWESOME game to play on the Nintendo GameCube Sonic Adventure DX (made by: Sega) is going to be a REALLY TOTAL AWESOME game to play on the NINTENDO GAME CUBE If anybody a really big fan of Sonic this is a MUST HAVE GAME TO GET & PLAY I give it 5 Stars "Highly Recommended" REALLY TOTAL AWESOME game to play SADX Ok Sonic Adventure blows Sonic Adventure 2 (yes even SA2:Battle)completely out of the water. The only way this game could possible [be bad] is if they didnt update the chao. Yes they should add maybey a little more cinema. But if they take out the adventure fields then I will still buy it. This game is so great you could simply play in the adventure field from dawn till dusk. Its simply THAT good. Overall this is simply my fav sonic game. I didnt think that they could improve on it much but since the gamecube disc can hold surprisingly alot more information than Dreamcast games. Sonic team has completely reworked the character format. The older , boxerier characters are now much more sharp and clearer looking. Although since Sonic Team is going back to sonics roots, it dosent mean that there still not working on Sonic Adventure 3. SADX , SA2B, SA, and SA2 should hold you down untill SA3 if you play with your chao alot. Originally released for the Sega Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure was a pulse-pounding thrill-ride through a stunning 3D world. With 6 characters to play as you progress through the game, each character had his or her own style of play - Anything from flying between sky scrapers and engaging the gigaintic Egg Carrier in a mid-air dogfight as Miles "Tails" Prower, scaling the side of an active volcano in search of missing Chaos Emerald shards as Knuckles The Echidna, to taking on the city-sized water monster Chaos as Sonic The Hedgehog. The graphics in Sonic Adventure DX have had a face-lift, and now look even better than they did in the original. In addition, word has it that every one of the Sega GameGear Sonic The Hedgehog games will be included in SA:DX as a bonus. The music to this game is also a joy to hear, and is some of the best in the series. All in all, if you liked the original then youll love Sonic Adventure DX. If youre new to the Sonic series, this is a great game to start with. Im a long-time Sonic fan in my late teens and see Sonic Adventure as a worthy sequel to the previous games, and the children I babysit love playing the game on my Dreamcast just as much as I do. Its just good, clean fun, and an excellent choice for a parent looking to buy a game for their child. SADX Ok Sonic Adventure blows Sonic Adventure 2 (yes even SA2:Battle)completely out of the water. One of my Favorite Games!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-04-19 I have it for Dreamcast.....I wouldnot change it, Id leave it the same.....but now, with GameGear Games(1995)on it? oh.... much better.....better graphics.....sound.........and longer gameplay, I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Educational to kids by adventures(But that is a dumb reason) Sonic is the best!!!!! ... It is worth $... by: Anonymous On: 2003-04-19 {Based on the Dreamcast version of Sonic adventure}. It is worth paying $... becuase all the charictars are fun to play as with their unique moves and tricks and their are 6 not including super sonic; the charictars are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Big the Cat {you see him in parts of sonic adventure 2 battle}, and E 102 codename Gamma a robot made by Eggman {Dr. Robotnik} who has a more sad quest with Amy Rose and his brothers E 101 Beta and E103-5. The boses are fun to fight against for all charictars. The plot is realy cool and exciting. And the levels are nice and well made but not anything to win a gold over but still fun. The only thing that I didnt like is walking around in station square, The rain forest, and The big ship made by Dr. Robotnik becuase it is frustrating to find things and you need to find all the levels yourself and some levels you need to do tricks {the casino level} or get a key that is put far away {about 3 levels need it}to unlock and it can give you a headache. Otherwise it is a great game and worth $.... I give it a 4 out of 5. A five if they fixed all the exploring you have to do unlike in Sonic adventure 2 battle You see the plot and then it takes you to a level or boss without having to find it yourself so I hope it is better in this directors cut of the game from Sonic adventure from the dreamcast version from 1999 which this game is based on has improved. Sonic is at it again, at the speed of light! Sonic Adventure DX is going to kick some PS2 and XBOX [behind]! I know Sonic Adventure was an outstanding game already, but this is going to be better than ever! Actually, I dont really know that much about the first adventure, something about water. But I am surly going to get it when it comes out. Stay tuned for more details Sonic fans!!! Better than Sonic Adventure 2. by: charliekkkk On: 2003-04-18 This game premiered on Dreamcast, but has enough new features to make it worth buying. In short, the game is better than SONIC ADVENTURE 2, but not the Gamecubes best platformer. There are only 6 playable characters (versus SONIC 2s 12), but each one feels more polished. Sonic levels are still the most fun, but much more of the other levels are fun, too. The game plays a lot like SONIC ADVENTURE 2, so you will know what to expect. Also, the camera is a lot better here. As you play through, there are neat things to unlock. There are 50 new minigame challenges that take place in the game levels, which are definetely fun to play through. You will also unlock other Sonic games that were on Segas GAME GEAR. Also, you can link up to the Game Boy Advnce, just like you could in SONIC ADVENTURE 2. If you owned this game on Dreamcast and liked it, there is enough improvement here to buy it again, not to mention a better controller. However, this is not the best platformer on Gamecube.... Overall, this is a fun game, and you should buy it, but there are better things on Gamecube to play first. Sonic is at it again, at the speed of light!
