![]() Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike By: Factor 5 Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 108 More Information StarsWars Rogue Squadron3 a classic I loved the movies when i was a kid and enjoyed all the games that have been made and this ones my favorite for the game cube along with the second rogue squadron and Bounty Hunter(Jango Fett) a solid title 10 out of 10! Some good levels, but too many boring ones This was a disappointing follow-up to Rogue Squadron II. It has too many first-person levels where you control a person rather than a starfighter. Some of these are fun, especially the speeder bike and AT-ST on Endor. However, there are enough other games like that where I dont feel a need to buy another one. There are a few good starfighter missions - most notably the attack on the Executor - but its too few to make it worth a separate purchase. GameCube Video Game when we received the video game, it was not in good working condition. (Damaged)I contacted the owner of the video game to inform him of the situation. JUST LIKE A GOOD BUSINESS MAN, My situation with this video game was resolved very quickly. I would re-order again from this person in the future. Good Work on taking care of your customers. The best Star Wars game ever! Ever wanted to reenact great moments from the Original Star Wars Trilogy? This game delivers just that! Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike is a Star Wars fans dream come true! Every Rebel and Imperial vehicle from the Original Trilogy is available to pilot! You can even ride Taun Tauns and Speeder Bikes! You will even have a chance to be your favorite Rebel on foot blasting away at Stormtroopers! You will even get a chance to use a Lightsaber! This game has every major and minor battle from the Original three films! The people at Factor 5 have outdone themselves again. The graphics in this game pack a punch! Hundreds of Tie-fighters fill the screen. A new technique in game developing called Light scattering emulates light bouncing off the atmosphere to give the game world a realistic look. People have often wondered if Lucasfilm gave Factor 5 digital models of the vehicles to use in their game. All of the models were faithfully recreated for this game by the Factor 5 team. The sound is intense Star Wars as we all know it to be. All of Ben Burtts sounds are in full effect in this Gamecube title. John Williams score is complimented by the teams own music department. The game controls are more refined this time around and the sense of speed is overwhelmingly awesome! Use your vehicles thrusters and blasters to catch up to your next target to blow it away! Exclusive to the Gamecube, this title boasts multimodes of gameplay to give you the true Star Wars experience. This disc also includes a two player cooperative version of Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader! Rebel Strike includes multiplayer dogfights, races, capture the base, and destruction modes. As an extra unlockable treat, Factor 5 has included all three original coin operated Star Wars arcade games from the 80s playable on your Gamecube! Truly this is five games on one disc! This is compatible with the Wii console, so you can enjoy it for years to come. If your a Star Wars fan and want to experience the Original Trilogy in its game form, then pick up a copy of Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike! The best of the series I never actually played these games when I owned a Gamecube, but I started to re-buy all my old GC titles since the Nintendo Wii can play them, and this was one of the first ones I bought. If youre a Star Wars fan, youll love this game. Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike Ordering was easy, price was good. Vendor communication was excellent. Delivery was within the stated time frame. Would buy from this vendor again. BE SMART. BE VICTORIOUS! This game is awesome because there are three arcade games that you can play that were released by Atari in 1983. There are also lots of other cool things about this game that I love, but my favorite mission is Fondor Shipyard Assault. You get to protect a rebel transport that is programmed to run into a shield station. You can play bonus missions like Attack on the Executor and Flight from Bespin. Those are my favorites because they are challenging and fun. Its like in the movies, but different because the player gets to be a part of the action. I would recommend this game to every Star Wars fan! not an improvement over rogue squadron 2 Rogue squadron 2 was really fun compared to this game. The npcs in this game are way to easy, and the ground combat blows...this is supposed to be a flight sim game anyway. not an improvement over rogue squadron 2 Rogue squadron 2 was really fun compared to this game. Could Have been so much better... by: Anonymous On: 2006-10-05 I played the first Rogue Sqad. when it came out, and i loved it, the story was intense and the graphics were incredible for the time. So (years later) when the second one came out I bought it right away. I was amazed, that with the progression in AI, the emey ships would no longer fly in patterns and shoot, they would now break off and attack you, so would your wingmates, who were now 50% more effecent. However their was no story like the first one, with a few additions, it simply followed the movies. The third one (rebel strike) was much hyped, and even though the second one had dissopoinded me, I still bought it. Lucas Arts put a lot of time into making the game look and sound good, so no problems there. The story on one hand followed the movies, and on the other hand it revealed a little more behind the secenes, and a side story kept you guessing. So y three stars? Rouge squadron had always been about flying fighters, in one and two, thats what you did. In three, they introduced runnning around on the ground which, I kid you not, takes up a good 75% of the single player game. On top of which, the levels are more cut scences than they are playing. And to make single player better they added AT-STs to the mix. Dont get me wrong, walkers are fun, but the main goal of rogue squadron is fighter craft. And you only get to use the walkers in two levels. The reason this game didnt get a Three star or two star, is because of Coop and Multyplayer, Which allow two players two play. This is all ship fights, and the AI is much smarter than in single player, For instance, If you open fire on a squad of ties, they will split up and try to get on your tail. On top of coop their are many differnet ways for multiplayer, such as Death Match, Walker duels, and speeder bike racing. So For Multiyplayer i give it a Replayabliity is also an issue, the game leaves you wanting more, (single player) and then when you play it agin it fails to satisfy. The single player tryed to blend fighters with ground, and did so very sloppy. The Camera angles when you on the ground are verry sloppy and you cant always see what you want to, All in all its an okay game, but if you want a game that does a better job try battlefront or battlefront 2 If you gona buy this game make sure you have somone to play it with, so that you get your moneys worth. So heres the ratings. Sound 5 of 5 Grapics 5 of 5 Story 4 of 5 Single player 3 of 5 Multyplayer 5 of 5 Replayabilty ( single player) 3 of 5 Dispite its faults, its an okay game, just dont expect to spend a whole lot of time in an X-wing or any other fitgher for that matter. (Sorry about the spelling) Sorry, but this game blows. You cannot change the camera angle at all; sometimes you cant see where you are or what you are doing. The only even partially good missions (no missions are any good, I just mean the ones that are better than others) are the ones in which you are in space in a starfighter. On land, walking, you cant see what you are doing most of the time, and there are only a few controls: shoot your gun, move, and roll or jump. There is only one weapon, the gun, and one way to use it. Aiming is strange, the game is overall completely boring, with a hideous storyline that gets old fast, and poor controls. I have not played the other Rogue Squadron games, maybe they are better. DO NOT EVER WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS GAME! I wish I could give this game ZERO STARS. Sorry, but this game blows. Lots of fun when Rebels strike by: simonc1138 On: 2006-04-06 Rebel Strike is the third game in Factor 5/Lucasarts Rogue Squadron series. It is an arcade flight shooter with tactical elements, and this installment mixes things up by including on-foot and vehicle missions. I like how Factor 5 dared to be different this time around. You get to play as an AT-ST walker and direct Ewoks to trigger their traps on Endor. You also get to relive the famous speeder bike chase, and thanks to some truly stunning graphics this scene is just as cool as it was in the movie. In fact a lot of this game covers sequences that the previous installment, Rogue Leader, didnt cover. If you put the two games together you pretty much get a complete Star Wars Trilogy package. The flight missions are still top-notch. The Jedi Starfighter makes a cameo this time around, and you get to drop those cool seismic charges like in the movie. The on-foot missions though, are somewhat problematic. You can run around and blast Stormtroopers, but the controls feel a bit loose and the aiming reticle doesnt always latch onto the person you want to shoot at. Jumping can become a royal pain, especially in the Dagobah and Sail Barge missions. Overall these missions are playable, but their unrefined qualities make them too easy compared to the flight and vehicle missions, and they work mostly as a mild diversion. We also get a bunch of bonus content in Rebel Strike. ALL of Rogue Squadron is available in 2-player co-op mode, and Im surprised Factor 5 managed to squeeze it all in. There are dvd bonuses like art galleries, a making-of, and even audio commentary. Theres also the 80s Star Wars arcade games wrapped in a funky disco-themed menu. Overall while the on-foot missions have flaws, theres a ton of fun and value in the package that cant be overlooked. This is a must buy for Star Wars fans. AWSOME GAME! by: Anonymous On: 2005-11-20 I love this game, and, its alot of fun to on the rouge leader 3 missions with a friend, and beat them then. I own rebel strike, and rouge leader 3, and its ALOT more fun to play rebeel strike!! Also, you get speeder bikes, and in the dogfights, you get sonic charges, lay in loads of #s and get the frig outta the way!!!!!!!! Should have stuck to fighter combat The Star Wars Rouge Squadron games were always at the top of the list when it came to action games. They were not really flight sims because of the simple controls. Star Wars Rouge Squadron III: Rebel Strike decided to change things by adding on foot missions. Not a good idea. You wander around shooting storm troopers while having to deal with an annoying target lock system and a horrible camera that you cant even control. The graphics are great and starfighter missions are still as good as ever, but there are less of them in order to make room for the on foot missions. The starfighter missions are also not as interesting as Rouge Squadron II which had you escorting star cruisers through a dibris filled nebula while being attacked by groups of TIE fighters. Rebel Strike does have 2-player dogfighting and 2-player co-op in which you and a friend can play through the single player story from Rouge Squadren II. However, if your looking for a better single player story minus all the painful on foot levels, you should probably just get Star Wars Rouge Squadren II: Rouge Leader. Crappy and Frustrating Being a big fan of the SW series, I must say that I found this game frustrating and pointless. The only good thing about this game is using it as a frisbee in family picnics Rogue Squadron III Rebel Strike I really like this game a lot, the graphics are pretty intense and acurate. The levels however are a little too easy and there arnt enough of them. However, the intergration between game and movie footage is very cool and helps it pertain to the Star Wars saga. When you are on foot, it can get a little tedious but the flight missions are a blast. Overall its a great game and lives up to the first two. Good Game, Good Value, Great Replayability...HORRIBLE On-Foot Missions! This is a good game in the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series that builds upon the last game in just about every way...more vehicles, slightly better graphics, more missions, NEW MULTIPLAYER MODES, walker and speeder bike missions. Theres a couple downsides though. Most of the good missions that were in the movie were used up in the last game, and some of those are actually recycled in this game. The on foot missions are terrible and completely slow down the pacing of the game and ruin the overall polish that the game once had...all for the matter of trying to mix things up, but they should have stopped at the walker and speeder bike missions. the controls are akward and the camera system is worse. you cant see where you are going. Replay value is great with multiplayer and tons of unlockables including the orignal star wars arcade games. If multiplayer is important to you get this game...after all, it includes a multiplayer version of rebel strike II: rebel leader. I suppose for the price you really cant complain. Great, but bad dialogue and storyline by: Anonymous On: 2005-06-26 Rogue Squadron 3 is a great game; it has superb graphics ( but not nearly as good as Rogue Leader)and excellent sound, but it does lack some elements. First of all, THE DIALOGUE STINKS!! A classic stupid line from the game is " this is bad their shouldnt be any Imperials here." The storyline is also weird and sometimes does not make sense, most notable the level Deception at Destrillion. I dont want to spoil it for ya, so I wont explain it. Half the game doesnt even focus on team Rogue Squadron, you play levels such as the Sarlacc Pit and Jedi training on dagobah, which have nothing to do with rogue squadron. I suggest this game as a rental, but dont buy it if you arent a true fan. Nice sequel, bad storyline by: Anonymous On: 2005-06-21 ok, i kno 4 all u star wars fanatics, u might get angry wit me. but overall, the game was like any other game. then why am i givin it 4 stars? well, im a fan 2. but the thing is, the missions are so mixed up, it takes a good memory to figure out where the mission u want is. u can follo the star wars storyline, but trust me, it might take u to a whole different mission. and there is a fact of the graphics. usually, u would expect more detail and etc. not here tho. it looks as if the creators were lazy and straightforward about it (no offense) but it could use some tuning up a bit. overall, the same addicition to the fans rules. youll lov the game, but it takes some getting used 2. Rebel Strike I think Rebel Strike is a great game overall. Its got good graphics, good sountracks, very good gameplay and takes you a little beyond the movies. Its a decent challenge, althought its pretty straightforward, and since it has unlockable levels its still challenging after youve beaten the game. And, of course, for all you lazy cheaters out there, it has plenty of cheats and glitches- especially unlockable ships. These are my ratings for this game: Difficulty: 3/5- its fairly challenging, though not exceptionally Strategy (puzzles and things like that): 1/5- this game is pretty straightforward Graphics: 4/5- great, smooth graphics Music: 5/5- this is an exceptional game as far as music goes, especially since it keeps true to the movies Longevity (how long youre going to want to play the game): 3/5- the normal levels go by pretty quickly, and after you unlock all the unlockable levels theres not much to do any more Multiplayer: 4/5- Great multiplayer with several modes you can challenge your friends in and lots of ships and levels to use Controls: 4/5- very good controls that are easy to use and use well Characters: 3/5- decent characters but not too many new ones Overall: 4/5- rebel strike is a great game overall and makes a great addition to any gamecube collection Pros: *Great graphics and music *Good levels and a good plot that stay true to the movies but take you beyond the movies for extra fun *Easy controls so you can make the best of your game *Great variety of different worlds and ships to play with in single and multuplayer *Great multiplayer with a good selection of ships, arenas and options so you can tweak the game to your liking Cons: *Straightforward gameplay lacking a good amount of puzzles and strategy *Fairly short gameplay *Not as challenging as many would hope Its a great game overall so try it out soon. Enjoy it like i did! The force is strong with this one, but where is darth vader? ok. Before reading this review i just want to say Star Wars RULES!!! now, When I first got this game i was really impresed by the opening when you see Darth Vader, Luke, Leia, Han solo, Chewie and the droids dancing disco! Well, this isnt what i came to tell you. First of all, this game has awesome graphics, exelent gameplay, variety(foot missions and ship missions), good cutscenes (at the end of most missions you see our good friend Darth Vader talking with Palpatine) and a good two player mode. This game has two campains as you might have read in other reviews, Lukes and Wedges. at the begining of the game you are at yavin-4 a day after the death starI was destroyed and you have to kill many transport and go into a temple. At the end of the game you are at Endor as Chewie and then as Han to go destroy the shield generator wich protects the death starII. The extra missions, i dont want to give away what happens in them... In Wedges campain you mostly use ships like the x-wing, Y-wing, Tie-hunter but the most impresive, Jedi Starfighter. In this Campain you also use the well known walker. Then in Lukes campain you also go in ships as well as in foot. But what really impressed me was that there are two campains were you actually use a lightsaver, one in Dagobah and one in the sarlac pit were you slice and dice many aliens, but unfortunately, no fighting with darth vader... Another cool feature is the two player mode. Co-op mode takes you through the most exiting battles of the star wars trilogy, i mean all of Rouge leaders levels. Then you get the vs mode. its cool to shoot with a naboo starfighter a jedi-starfighter in the middle of an asteroid field. Another cool extra is the original arcade wich you can unlock and play. They have bad graphics but are really exiting. In conclusion, This game is really good soecially if you are a star wars fan. But as i told you, you dont get to fight darth vader(thats why it lost a point). I really recomend it, specially to play it with a friend. May the force be with you... An okay game by: Anonymous On: 2005-04-03 This game is pretty good. The graphics are good and the controls are easy to use. The gameplay on flight missions is incredible and you can sit in the cockpit. The gameplay on the ground is okay. When you move its almost like your a stick figure and it takes forever to kill people. But the controls are easy to use. The one bad part is you can only use a lightsaber on 2 levels. The game also includes bonus levels including a endurance level where you face people until you die. You can face Boba Fett on this level. Overall a good game. You get your moneys worth. cool, but hard by: Anonymous On: 2005-02-20 Its almost impossible to get a medal. If you do not like very hard games, do not buy this game! cool, but hard Its almost impossible to get a medal. If you do not like very hard games, do not buy this game! BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by: Anonymous On: 2005-01-17 This game rocks! We had the first one for our computer and bought it. When we got it we put it in and played it for 3 hours. The game isnt to long but when you go back an try to get all the medals it becomes challenging. I highly recommend this game for anyone even if youve never played a star wars game. Disco star wars by: Anonymous On: 2005-01-10 the best part of the game is when you start it up and theres the star wars characters and they do a disco dance and then it blows up and it says factor 5. thats so cool i love it its worth the 50 bucks right there. Not as Great as ROGUE LEADER was REBEL Strike is great and feuatures some very interesting levels but kinda weird and ceratinly inaccurate. THe fact that Wedge runs into Obi-Wans Jedi Starfighter was really random and bizarre. The whole plot line is crappy and very weird. It follows no set plot. Wedges voice is really done poorly. The pyrotechnics are also reduced and the TIE fighters dont blow apart as much as to careen towards the ground. I like more blowing up TIE fighterhs than sending TIE fighters to their deaths. Some interesting levels though and the ground combat is unique. THe ground combat is actally pretty bad. All in all, not for everyone, just people who like arcade style flight shooters. Even Star Wars fans might not enjoy this. prety good the grafics are prety good and you get to jump to. though there are only two different types of guns, the storm trooper gun and your dingky gun. the levels are prety cool but you barly use your lightsaber at all. the mulltiplayer is great but the co-op stinks in the co-op u can only do levels the were in rogue squedron 2. the improvment in this game are that you can go in cool vehicles. to sum it all up i say this game is a rental unless you r a star wars freek prety good the grafics are prety good and you get to jump to. though there are only two different types of guns, the storm trooper gun and your dingky gun. the levels are prety cool but you barly use your lightsaber at all. the mulltiplayer is great but the co-op stinks in the co-op u can only do levels the were in rogue squedron 2. the improvment in this game are that you can go in cool vehicles. to sum it all up i say this game is a rental unless you r a star wars freek soooo FUN!!! by: Anonymous On: 2004-11-24 Whoa man this game is fun! Its just like the second one exept it has the most awsome ground missions! Everybody says its not very good but i think it rocks! But a better game is jedi Outcast, But back to rebel strike! Some people think its bad but cmon ya cant say its not fun! I recomend it to all 12 year old boys like me! Rebel Strike is awesome!!! by: Anonymous On: 2004-10-27 THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best game Ive ever played in my life! You can use a Tie Bomber a B-Wing an X-Wing an A-Wing a Y-Wing the Naboo Starfighter a Jedi Starfighter with 6 rechargeable sonic charges Slave 1 with I think 20 rechargeable sonic charges and you can actually see the lasers for unlike in Rogue Leader Im not saying Rogue Leaders bad. If you use a code you can get a car to fly around in. And there are codes for Star Wars arcade games like A New Hope Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi they dont toon up to games we have these days but they might bring memories from old Star Wars games. (...) I love this game a lot. Very free and non-linear. Basically, if you like mission-based games that are not guiding you through the order of difficulty at a linear pace, this game is a must-buy. This game reminds me Final Fantasy X-2. But FFX-2 is a lot more freer. Well, I cant say much more about this game than what Ive said. I will play it to the end, and I will try to get all gold medals in every mission. Thats it. -Calvin I can't stop playing First. I have never liked Star Wars games, they are either to long and boring, they didnt feel like Star Wars, or are meant for dia hard gamers. I got this game as a gift from my brother who is the only person I know loves star wars games since the Nintendo games. Boy I was in for a pleasant and unexpected surprise. This game is very good. And you really feel you are part of the trilogy. Locations are great, graphics are good 5 channel sound I liked. Best of all gameplay is great. Although the flying parts of the missions are kind of difficult to learn if you are not familiar with other Rogue Squadron games or ones that require flying, they are a lot of fun. I already finished the regular missions, but I feel the need to get the medals to unlock the bonus missions, which are five, I already got three and have played the first one. I like the fact that you want to play more even when the main story is finished, not like other games that you are in an urge to beat them just to know the ending and get it over with. I like the fact that you can play not only with luke, but with Han, Wedge, Chewie driving an Imperial Walker and that bring us to another cool part, you get to drive different kind of vehicles and fly different ships in some missions you can choose which you want to fly. If you are a beginner you will enjoy it and if there are missions which are too difficult you can enter a passcode for unlimited lives or to unlock the different features, but you cant unlock the bonus missions. If you are a medium level gamer you can be challenged to get as many medals as you can to unlock as many or all the bonus missions and if you are a hardcore gamer this game will certainly be a challenge to get better times and scores to get all the bonus missions and unlock space ships like The Millenium Falcon, Slave 1 and tie fighters to name some. When you finish the regular missions with or without medals you get a documentary and also the Empire Strikes Back arcade game. And if you finish the first bonus mission you unlock the Star Wars arcade game. Both of them are not artistic master pieces compared to modern day technology but if you grew in the 80s its may bring good memories of the primitive stages of home computing and video gaming. Last BUT NOT LEAST. You can enjoy cutscenes taken out of the three movies, during the start, checkpoints and completion of the missions. Sort like the ones from Lord of the Ring games, with the difference that they dont transition from live images to digital ones. But still if you are a Star Wars fan you will enjoy them. If you like Star Wars this is the best one I have ever seen or played, and if you are a gamer most probably youll like this one. I almost forgot the foot part of the missions are not as bad as people tell in the reviews I have read, still it has some problems especially in right angle corners, since the camera angle doesnt change until you have turned, but they are cool to play specially the recuing of princess Leia from A new hope. I can't stop playing First. I have never liked Star Wars games, they are either to long and boring, they didnt feel like Star Wars, or are meant for dia hard gamers. Play the movies If you like the original three Star Wars movies, than this game is for you. Even if you havent seen them, this game is still awsome. There are a lot of levels that take place in the movies like Hoth, the speeder bikes from Endor, and you can even go to Yodas lagoon for Jedi training. If you do well enough on a mission you can either get a bronze, silver, gold medal. But sometimes you dont get any medals. You get points for getting medals, and you can unlock missions with the points. A lot of people complain about the on-foot missions. They arent good but theyre not bad. I got through them with some camera problems but it doesnt really take away too much from the game. It is cool to go on the speeder-bikes but they are really hard because one little mistake and you will hit a tree or something, but they are still my favorite levels. For a bonus they have all the levels from Rogue Squadron II in a co-op mode. This is really fun if you have a friend around to play them with. Overall this is one of my favorite games on my Gamecube and for this low price, you cant beat it. Play the movies If you like the original three Star Wars movies, than this game is for you. Mediocre sequel, but still fun After the enormous success, critically and commercially, of the Nintendo GameCubes stellar "Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader", it should not come as a complete surprise that the sequel (two years in the making) would be somewhat of a letdown. "Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike" is a solid, serviceable addition to the Star Wars library of games, but it is certainly the least of the top-flight Rogue Squadron series. Part of the problem that plagues "Rebel Strike" is the fact that its designers are simply running out of scenarios to use for individual stages. Whereas "Rogue Leader" was a crisp, tight depiction of the main battles of the original trilogy with a few previously little known intermediate missions thrown in which meshed seamlessly with the rest of the challenges. "Rebel Strike" seems to be more a collection of `everything else. It is the `rest of the turkey to "Rogue Leaders" `white meat. Some of the stages dont seem to make much sense in the overall of scheme of things (`Deception at Destrillion is a classic example) and others that just doesnt seem to have any rhyme or reason to its structure and ends up abruptly completing (`Relics of Geonosis). Much was made of the separate paths one can take with either Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles, but in the end it amounts to very little since each of their separate missions need to be completed. The games biggest failing, however, stems from the fact that the designers strayed from the spaceship-based missions that they were so accomplished at and included some poorly conceived missions that take the player on foot or has them using speeder bikes or Imperial walkers. The interface for the foot missions is poorly designed in that the camera angles are terrible and frequently cause the player to lose the direction of where they are going. Combat on foot is very pedestrian as well. The speeder bike mission is simply tedious and is the most aggravating challenge in any of the Rogue Squadron games since the `Beggars Canyon mission in the first game. The less said about the walkers, the better. Despite all of these glaring flaws, "Rebel Strike" is still a compulsively playable game. Graphically, the designers at Factor 5 have outdone themselves when it comes to detail and realism. As visually compelling as "Rogue Leader" was, its sequel trumps it. The space battle missions also meet the high standards set in previous games ("Shipyards at Fondor" is very good). Overall, "Rebel Strike" lacks the replay value of its two predecessors, and that has to be held against it. Questing after the gold medals in this game is not as compelling or rewarding as in earlier versions. Still, it is a solid game and worth adding to ones Gamecube collection. One can just hope than any future installments are designed with the "Rogue Leader" playbook in mind, instead. An excellent game with a few flaws by: darthkommissar On: 2004-06-18 When the Gamecube was launched, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II - Rogue Leader was an instant hit with a number of gamers. It was one of the finest games available at the time of launch, and it proved that unlike many previous blunders in the series, Star Wars games CAN be good. For nearly two years we have waited for the sequel, and at long last it has arrived! Read on for my review of Star Wars Rogue Squadron III - Rebel Strike. THE GOOD: -The game has two separate campaigns - one follows Luke Skywalker, the other follows Wedge Antilles. THE BAD: OVERALL: Rebel Strike by: Anonymous On: 2004-06-17 hey like rouge leader, i was disapointed with the lack of levels, there are a few ground missions, but i hate the lack of manuevering, and you cant aim, it aims for you and, well, you have a sucky blaster, and terrible aiming. the flight missions are cool, and i have these problems were i beat a level on my first turn, but when i go to replay it i fail miserably, i dunno, its a good game, i wouldnd pay more that $20 for it, i mean i would if it was longer Rebel Strike hey like rouge leader, i was disapointed with the lack of levels, there are a few ground missions, but i hate the lack of manuevering, and you cant aim, it aims for you and, well, you have a sucky blaster, and terrible aiming. the flight missions are cool, and i have these problems were i beat a level on my first turn, but when i go to replay it i fail miserably, i dunno, its a good game, i wouldnd pay more that $20 for it, i mean i would if it was longer it's a good game, but how they did it wasn't cool by: Anonymous On: 2004-05-19 The game is awesome, to say the least, it couldve easily gotten 5 stars, but for one little problem, more with Lucas Arts than anything else. They had released, Rogue Leader earlier, which I had gotten, before I even heard about this, but then I hear about this game, which has Rogue Leader, in co-op mode, plus a whole new story line, that branchs off, making it about twice as long as Rogue Leader, I wouldntve minded if they put it on 2 disks, but doing that on one disk, kinda pissed me off. I wouldve only taken a half off, but Amazon doesnt do that. Anyway, its a great game, worth the buy, since you can do a dogfight with Slave 1(the Fett ship) and Obi Wans Jedi Starfighter, which Wedge finds on Geonosis on his half of the story, youd think it wouldnt run by that time, but it does, and for a little hint for reading all my babbling, when doing a rampage in the astroids around geonosis, use slave 1, hold Z, go in a circle and let your Seismic Charges/Sonic Mines fly, in that rampage, you have to destroy the astroids, and the Sonic mines can easily bring them down, plus you get 20 of them, lots of fun, so yeah, get the game, and thank you for reading my babble. Wow! Its been what? 3 years since Game Cube was released now? I never upgraded from my N64 because I didnt think that the games had improved that much. But last week I played this game on my friends Game Cube and I just had to have it. Its amazing! Especially for a Star Wars freak like me. What makes the game so great isnt just the great graphics, its that you get to go on foot as Luke, Han, Leia, etc.. Something that the hasnt been done since the Super Star Wars series on Super Nintendo. Sure the flying is great, but the other rogue squadron titles already delivered that. Now you can actually be a part of the movies by playing the characters as well as flying the ships. And Nintendo delivered that with the same level of great gameplay, graphics, and fun that they always provide better than the other game systems. Yet Another Evil Empire to Destroy... I must say, Star Wars on modern consoles is becoming more and more realistic. If youve seen the graphics in this latest release, you know what Im talking about--theyre drop-dead gorgeous. Every location is beautifully rendered without any slowdown, and the total-immersion feel of the Star Wars universe is reached perfectly. Factor 5 did their homework on this one, and improved on its Rogue Squadron forebears. Coming complete with multiple space- and planet-based missions, as well as an excellent two-player version of every level from Rogue Squadron II (with a bit of an increase in difficutly) and some DVD-like extras, this is the complete package for the Star Wars-d. One issue which comes up between the interesting music choices is the fact that missions based on the ground have difficult-to-control aspects like firing lasers which removes some of the fun. Granted, this is really not too bad in my experience, it could have been worked on a little more. The space battles, however, are better than ever, and following the Rebels more closely to the Trilogy scripts is a bonus for some fans (like myself). Besides, who doesnt like a little Star Wars Arcade circa 1989, eh? Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. Its a sleeper hit, and despite some whining, (and a less-than-gigantic single player mode) this space-flight-and-third-person-shooter is bound to become a favorite for a quick fix of Star Warsiness. Wooo!!! by: newfound32 On: 2004-04-25 I am a big fan of the star wars movies, but not all psychos about it and all upsets with it, but excluding the prequels, which are terrible. This is a definite must play for star wars fanatics though. Anyway, everyone is familiar with the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series that started on the N64 and followed into the Game cube. Each game was known for its outstanding graphics, movie cut-scenes, and fast action game play in the different types of ships. Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike is the 3rd game of the series, and again it still delivers the same action quality gaming we were waiting for. Dont listen to the negative reviews, as this game is the strongest and most challenging of the bunch. The graphics of the game are spectacular and are every bit as good as the previous ones, if not better. From the ground missions on Hoth, to the bike missions in the forest, each level and character detail is well done. As an added bonus there are some great movie clips that come into play in different scenes of the level, usually before and after the mission is over. These videos are all good quality and really help put you into the game. Some people have complained about certain framerate issues, but they are not noticeable, especially in the fast paced sky missions. The audio portion of the game really shines as well...all the Star Wars sounds are here, including movie based voice acting. There really isnt any music to speak of while you are playing the missions, but in menus and selection screens, some Star Wars music and classic Rogue Squadron game music plays. Sound effects are all great here...Tie Fighters exploding, lasers firing, voices coming in on the com-link...everything sounds great, so no problems here. Now we get to the game play...now after the positive graphics and audio reviews, you would think there would be some game play problems as well. On the contrary, the game play is just as good as the others, but there are some problems...lets take a look inside. Levels are still mission based as always, and if you are defeated a number of times, or fail the mission, you lose. Now along with the classic sky based missions, there are now the addition of land based missions. If you have played the demo of Hoth, you probably know already. With that, there are 2 different campaigns...one following Luke, and the other following his buddy, Wedge Antilles. Now with all the positives there are a few negatives, now while they arent a big problem, they are a tad noticeable. One such being the camera...now while the camera isnt a major issue in the air missions due to the constant moving gameplay, the land missions are a tad affected by this. Main point being you cant control the camera in these missions which is a tad annoying...however the camera issue isnt as bad as in games like Super Mario Sunshine. The other problem I had was the bike missions. They are extremely difficult because basically one wrong mistake and you fail. I really think this is one mission that could have been removed from the game. Beyond this though, there are really no major problems, so you can look forward to nice graphics, great sound, and great gameplay. With all these positives, there is no mistake if I should be recommending the game or not. This is a great game, and now with the new low price its a must buy! Where's the camera man? This darn thing is jammed again! by: Anonymous On: 2004-04-14 First of all, in the stupid on-foot missions, (which dont even make any sense) the camera NEVER moves in the right direction! As always, the flight missions are AWWWW(...)SOME! THROWING IN A LOT OF EXTRAS DOESN'T = A BETTER GAME There are some really nice highlights in the game, but overall its not very good -- when you compare it to the predecessor, Rogue Leader, its absolutely terrible. Ill start with whats great about it. 1) Improved graphics (you have to see it to believe it). Rebel Strike looks just that much better than Rogue Leader; the video stills that you can find on the internet really dont do justice to levels like the Cloud City sequence, or the Endor forest chase level. 2) A lot of new stuff to pilot, including an all new Tie Fighter thats fashioned after the X-Wing. Many of the ships have improved since Rogue Leader -- the Falcon is a lot more nimble, for example. 3) the cooperative mode where you get to play Rogue Leader with a buddy is a nice add-on. Now for whats lame: 1) The 3rd person levels are all ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, and its obvious Factor Five has little to no experience with incorporating people into video games. The lock on doesnt always grab the most likely target (ie. an enemy standing right in front of you, rather than the one 30 feet away). The camera movement is very odd, and you have absolutely no control over what you can see. This is especially bad when youre running down a narrow hallway; its even worse when you pass an enemy and hes somewhere behind the camera. Its nice that they give you some nice manuevers like ducking, jumping and rolling -- even macrobinoculars that act like the targeting computer. My experience with these levels required no technique, and amounted to just running around, pointing my gun in the right direction and firing. I found no use whatsoever for the macrobinoculars; it stands to reason that, if someone is firing at you, HES YOUR ENEMY. 2) Game levels were poorly planned. For the most part, the game levels are in chronological order from the first to the third Star Wars movie (as was with Rogue Leader), but some are out of order -- youll pilot a speederbike (Return of the Jedi) before your Jedi training (Empire Strikes Back). There are a lot of cut scenes which is nice, but some are video clips from the movies and others are CG graphics; these inconsistencies give the game an off-balance feel. Furthering that problem is the incredibly horrible voice acting for many of the characters, notably Wedge and Admiral Ackbar. I wish they would have gotten Dennis Lawson back, or at least someone who sounds a little bit like him. Factor Five should stick to what they do well: shooter games where you pilot a different Star Wars vehicles with different tactical advantages. I think Rebel Strike suffered from a rush to hit the store shelves, a little too much alcohol on the job (watch the documentary and youll see what I mean), and very likely some marketing guys breathing down the necks of the game makers. Hopefully theyll have their ducks in a row for the next release -- if there is one. OK for Lucasarts by: Anonymous On: 2004-03-15 Star Wars Rebel Strike is ok. Its graphics are fine, but not great, and it is very short game. There is only 1 out of 9 which i like, and i barely play that. i beat it in a week and 2 days, and I never played it again. Do or do not. There is no try. Factor 5 and Lucas Arts really dropped the ball (or the X-Wing) with this one--literally. The biggest let-down of this game is the ground-based missions. The 3D characters arent even always grounded. At one particularly difficult part of the game I was amazed to find Luke Skywalker just floating in mid air when he should have been firlmy planted on a skiff. I love a challenging game, but this game is hard because it was so poorly developed. The vehicle-based missions, other than adding some interesting new vehicles to pilot, are not significantly improved from Rogue Squadron 2. Now with that said, there are some good things to say about this game. The graphics are even more stunning than Rogue 2. And the co-op version of Rogue 2 is awesome! But why no co-op for the normal missions in Rogue 3?! The overall impression is that this game was underdeveloped and possibly rushed through production. The bottom line is, if this were not a Star Wars game it would have never seen the light of day. Its not worth paying full price for. Rent it. Factor 5, take your time with Rogue 4. Rogue 2 showed us what you can do when the force is with you. Good things are worth waiting for, and Star Wars fans know the meaning of patience. A step in the wrong direction by: Anonymous On: 2004-01-19 I have played the past Star Wars Rogue Squadron games and been satisfied, in particular with Rogue Squadron II. This game however, is not as uplifting. When I first read about it I thought; "Oh, this game is going to be awesome with great graphics and the co-op would be sweet" (I think I actually wrote one of the first reviews for it when it appeared here on Amazon). How far I was from the truth. First, the good. To start off with, everything about the aerial combat in this game is great. The team at Lucas Arts have clearly refined skills when it comes to dogfighting in X-Wings, having had a lot of practice with previous versions, dating back to I dont want to know when. The graphics are also great in this part of the game: even though there is so much going on, everything is still sharp and the game doesnt chug. The aerial combat can get a bit tiresome after a while, but the variety in ships masks that effectively. Now for the bad. It seems that Lucas Arts is trying to imitate what Rare did with Star Fox, and bring their little character out of his safe little cockpit. Hey, it worked for a rodent... thing, so why shouldnt it work for the one of most powerful Jedi a galaxy far far away has ever seen? But how far will that kind of logic ever get you. As I said before, the aerial parts of this game are great, but its the rest that really kills it. All of the ground based missions are absouletly apalling. I mean, you cant even use your lightsaber for crying out loud! Let me give you a frightfully accurate description of each of the identical on foot missions. You walk around, hardly able to see yourself half of the time because of the static camera angles, some badies run out and say "REBEL SCUM" in an evil voice, stand there, shoot you once or twice, the stand there some more, while youre just pounding away at the A button to shoot them dead, if you can even see what your shooting. Oh, and did I mention that you can jump! Yeah, its great, just press X and be magically lifted of the ground for no reason! Its fantastic (can you sense the sarcasm?)! And another great feature; the game even targets enemies for you, isnt that nice. Its quite a shame that the enemies are, for the most part behind you or behind a wall when this Auto Targeting occurs. Can you see where Im going with this? Okay, so if my impecable paragraph wasnt enough for ya, here are the scores (Im going to seperate them because this is almost two differnt games): AERIAL PORTION Graphics: 8 (up to date, fast paced) Gameplay: 6.5 (can get a bit repetitive) Replayability: 9 (great option of total R.S. II co-op) Sound/Music: 7 (great Star Wars sound track and good lasers...) Presentation: 7 (good cut-scenes, cool menu) Overall: 7.5 GROUND PORTION Graphics: 4 (not nearly up to the standard of next generation consoles) Gameplay: 2 (as well /\\) Replayability: 2 (none, thank goodness) Sound/Music: 5 (nothing special) Presentation: 4 (cut-scenes not as good, lame objectives) Overall: 3 My advice: Stay away from this game. If you want a good Gamecube flyer, just get this games predescor or wait for the upcoming Star Fox game that sticks to its strongpoint; dogfighting (and it looks great!) Pilots fly, not run around with blasters! I have only rented the game, but even that left a bad taste in my mouth! The $5.00 I used for renting this pile could have been spent much better. The game looks GREAT, problem is it plays like a drunk nurf hearder. The flying missions are ok, but the controls need a little work. The foot and speeder missions suck all the bantha doo doo in the galaxy as far as I am concerned. Factor 5 really dropped the ball on this one. YOU CAN LEAVE THE COCKPIT!!!!!! No friggin way!@!@ !@ yeah but the controls are aweful and all you do is give the A button a work out. Theres a 2 player mode!!!!! yeah but the only thing exciting about that is the co-op of Rouge Leader. some of the missions are kinda cool though the problem is youll have to play through so much garbage youll be afraid to continue on to finds these rare gems. Ok os here is what you should do instead...go buy Rogue Leader. you can probably find it somewhere for like 10 bucks.k and if you already own that one....i dont know, take a nap or something. Good addition but not great by: Anonymous On: 2004-01-03 THis is a great on on game to the others in this line. Nice to get new missions and new vehicles. Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike is very similiar to its predessor in terms of its spaceship gameplay. However, Rebel Strike incorporates new gameplay elements: ground missions, where youll either be on foot with a blaster or in some type of vehicle such as a AT-ST Imperial Walker or a speeder bike. These new gameplay elements are mostly for the worse, however, as most of them are obviously rushed and seem to be in the game only to take up space. The flight missions themselves are usually good, but are still greatly lacking depth, length, and anything actually new compared to the other Rogue games. The co-op mode, however, is the games saving grace which lets you and a partner play through all the original Rogue Leader levels together, with added difficulty and enemies. On the other hand, this is only useful provided you always have someone to play with. And obviously, many people do not, and for them Rebel Strike is a rental at best. For everyone else, this is probably the one to get in the series. |3| rogue squadron 3 by: Anonymous On: 2003-12-30 this is a good game for star wars fans...it is fun to play because you are either piloting a ship or fighting storm-troopers and other bad guys. I recommend that many people should have this game. alex Good stuff by: Anonymous On: 2003-12-29 even if u dont like star wars(not saying i dont cuz i do) this game is intense as any flight sim youre going to find for the gamecube it is a great game to add to anyones collection if u can learn the controls which are somewhat underrated the camera angles in the 3rd person game are nothin special but the fun of throwing a thermal detonator into a crowd of storm troopers definitely makes it worth while Lucasarts Does It Again by: Anonymous On: 2003-12-28 I love it, I love it... Rogue 3 is so cool. the only prob is that ur on the ground too much... But still, way cool. You have new single player missions, and rogue leader double player missions. Youre in x-wing, y-w, b-w, a-w, millenium falcon, JEDI STARFIGHTER, naboo fighter, slave 1, at-st, AT-AT (one level) on foot, tauntaun, speeder bike, and this new TIE, The TIE HUNTER, all new. id give it 10 out of 5 Good stuff even if u dont like star wars(not saying i dont cuz i do) this game is intense as any flight sim youre going to find for the gamecube it is a great game to add to anyones collection if u can learn the controls which are somewhat underrated the camera angles in the 3rd person game are nothin special but the fun of throwing a thermal detonator into a crowd of storm troopers definitely makes it worth while Nothings Better by: Anonymous On: 2003-12-26 When I purchesed the new game I was worried that it would have bad camera angles. But it didnt. The view is as good as Zeldas and people are crazy about that game. I was inpresed with all the options, it had around 20 levels and over 30 minutes of movie parts built into the game. Compare that to The Return of the King game with barely 14. And another thing, according to "Nintendo Power" (official nintendo magazine) it has the best movie picture (from episode 4,5, and 6)you will find, considering the DVD version hasnt come out. And if you still want more you can play multi player co-op missions with every level from Rouge Leader, so its like 2 gient games on the same disk.Heres what I think of the game. Graphics 10/10 (There are no problems at all.) Sound 10/10 (14 origanal songs from the all 5 movies. With some origanal voices including Harrison Ford,Han Solo. Mark Hammal, Luke Skywalker. Dennis Lawson, Wedge Antilles. Carrie Fisher, Princes Leia. ) Options 10/10 (Many things to do.) Overall 10/10 (Perfect Game!) Hope you buy it and thanks for reading. Definitely a solid entry into the Star Wars game pantheon Well, the creators at LucasArts have done it again and put together a fun, challenging, and innovative Star Wars game. Rebel Strike puts the gamer alongside the storyline of the movies and not only has the ship combat available in the first two Rogue Squadron games, but combat on foot, flying speeder bikes, and piloting ATST and ATAT walkers. And it has plenty of replay value--with the addition of a large and fun new multiplayer game. Of course, it has its downs--missions are often too short, and the speeder bike controls tend to be finicky. But it makes up for its shortcomings and is, in my opinion, the best Star Wars game on GameCube to date. When I rented it and got through only 4 levels. I looked at the guide online(where I thought was the only place to buy it), but it was over $... If I got the game I would be no match for it without the guide. But ten a couple days later, a "miracle happenEd. I was in Wal-Mart`s game section, and then I saw it:the guide for only $... I am currently hoping that I get the game for christmas. ... chronological errors by: Anonymous On: 2003-11-30 ... The TIE interceptor entered service in the Imp Navy several months after the first film, and the A-wing was around during Empire, but wasnt used until after the batlle of Hoth. The B-wing came out during the time of Shadows of the Empire. Anyway, this game truly rocks. The graphics kick ..., and the sound is awe-inspiring. Lots of playable craft and new characters make this game gold. WHAT WAS I THINKING??? Okay, Im gonna start off by saying that Rebel Strike represents stupidity at its height. I read all the reviews about how horrible it was, how the camera sucked, how no one should get this game before renting it, and what do I do....go out and buy it. I figured, "Well, I loved the first two, so chances are no matter how bad the third one is, Ill like it a little bit." BIG MISTAKE. Tattoine Training was deceiving, however. It looked okay at first, the camera was not great, but not horrendous; the speeder, speeder bike, and chicken walker very fun and new; and the T-16 Skyhopper was the same as the original...nothing bad at all. It was when the game began the troubles with the game presented themselves. First came the cutscenes...I think Factor 5 took the "cut" in "cutscenes" a little too seriously...every five seconds the screen blacks out. IT LOOKS HORRIBLE, almost like they forgot to add something in, or the game has a glitch, or your TV is broken. The Emperor is included in the cutscenes, and while the scenes are okay, the emperor looks like a dead chicken! Hes supposed to be scary, and I was cracking up! I think they could have at least made him look a little better. The first level was disgustingly easy, although this I sympathize with since not all people are Rouge Squadron veterans like me. However, just as the reviews said, the mission objectives were completely unclear, and I was often forced to rely on my gut instinct (not a reliable source), and even THINK a little bit (THE HORROR!!!). The graphics were supposed to be upgraded and noticeably different from Rouge 2, but they looked exactly the same to me. And does Factor 5 have a problem with John Williams? Yes, they even managed to mess up the music...they tried to compose their own, and it sounds worse than the TIE Fighter sound effects. And speaking of TIE Fighters, what is this TIE Hunter crap? It looks like a TIE Fighter with annorexia!!! The story line is awful (I have no idea what the hecks going on). Everyone spent so much time complaining about the "walk mode," and while it is problematic, Im more concerned with how much they screwed up the heart of Rouge Squadron..the flight missions. They only decent thing about the game is multiplayer aspect...but even that is based on Rouge Leader!!! They had to go back to the predecesor to get anything good. To conclude this psycho tirade, Im warning you: I am not a diehard Star Wars fan, in fact, Im not much of a Star Wars fan at all. The real Star Wars geeks will try to convince you that this is a great game. Well, in the words of Captain Kirk (I love Star Trek), "DONT BELIEVE THEM, DONT TRUST THEM!" They have been seduced by the crappy side of the force. Stick with Rouge Leader: Rouge Squadron 2, and steer away from this horrible disgrace to such a great series of games. I would have given it only one star, but because it bears the name "Rouge Squadron," I felt obliged to give it some dignity. Weak Force I dont often review games, but I had to write in on this one. This game was pretty bad. Soem major plot flaws. Some horrible control (cant control the camera on foot missions) and just plain stupid elelments like "sonic weapons" in space. When I came across that, I just turned the game off. Fortunately I rented this because I wasnt sure I like it. I loved Rogue 2 and its one of my favorite games. I liked the idea of flying some missions with a friend, but the single player version is dumb dumb DUMB. People who like this game probably also like Jar-Jar. SUPER GAME!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-11-24 best game i oun by far!! great graphics, huge levles, and great replay value! best of all your not only in ships, your on the ground, in walkers , on speeders, and there is multi-player mode where you can play co-op or vs. !!!.. BUY THIS GAME!!!..............IF YOU DONT YOULL BE SORRY!!..... A wonderful game that can stand without the help of its pre- This game is one of the best ever made. There are three main modes to play in: Single Player: here it is, the Rebel Strike, it starts with a spused up version of the classic "Tatooine Training", then the first mission. Once the first mission is beat there are actually three separate story paths, (you have to unlock the middle one mission by mission) the left one focuses on Lukes story, the middle fallows the movies, and the right one focuses on Wedges story. It is all laid out on mission select so you can do both at once or restrain yourself and complete one branch before starting the other. Co-Op: This is a Co-Op two player version of RSII. A complete recreation, including cutscenes and extras. The only bad thing about this is you and your partner share six lives, so if your parter [is bad] and they die six times, you fail as well. Otherwise, it is just a great addition. MultiPlayer: There are several stand-alone two player competitive missions such as "DogFight over Hoth" or "Endor Forest Race" or "DeathStar Rampage". And many, many, more. Graphics - 100/10 Spectacular Best Game I ever played from star wars I bought this game 3 weeks ago and I can honestly say it is the best star wars game ever !!!!! It isnt a big factor that you cant control the camera ,but it is superb. The multiplayer is the best Ive ever played. The fact that they added the whole rogur leader game {minus two bonus levels} is the best co-op I ever played. If I could I would give it 10 stars but the option was only 5 max. The levels are longer than normal and the graphics are a little better. Remember, from shooting storm troopers on foot, to controlling the head on an at-at, the game is wicked. Buy it from amazom.ca!!!! THERE IS NO DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE by: Anonymous On: 2003-11-21 This game here is a must have. The graphics in this game is awsome and you can climb in and out of the cockpit at any time. TRUST ME BUY THIS GAME NOW! The Jedi Council insists you to get this game! Meh...sorry for the corny line, but I had to say it. Anyway, everyone is familiar with the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series that started on the N64 and followed into the Gamecube. Each game was known for its outstanding graphics, movie cut-scenes, and fast action gameplay in the different types of ships. Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike is the 3rd game of the series, and again it still delivers the same action quality gaming we were waiting for. Dont listen to the negative reviews, as this game is the strongest and most challenging of the bunch. This is why I can recommend this game from the very start...now onto the review. Now we get to the gameplay...now after the positive graphics and audio reviews, you would think there would be some gameplay problems as well. On the contrary, the gameplay is just as good as the others, but there are some problems...lets take a look inside. Levels are still mission based as always, and if you are defeated a number of times, or fail the mission, you lose. Now along with the classic sky based missions, there are now the addition of land based missions. If you have played the demo of Hoth, you probably know already. Some people disliked the foot missions, but I found them important to the storyline and were actually kind of fun, due to the change of pace. With that, there are 2 different campaigns...one following Luke, and the other following his buddy, Wedge Antilles. The foot based missions werent the only new addition to the game, there was also the addition of new vehicles...such as the Tie Bomber, Jedi Starcraft, and Tie Hunter among others. From that, the best new addition would be the competitive Multiplayer and the Co-operative mission modes of play. This adds a great deal of replay value to the games...which had great replay value already from the medal awards. If you are new to the game, gold, silver, and bronze medals are given based on how you did in each level. This inspection includes how many enemies you beat, how long it took you to beat the level, your accuracy, and more. The sheer number of things to do in this game is incredible, and why the gameplay gets a thumbs up from me as well. This is one of the best games of the season next to Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Party 5, and is one of the games to get for the holiday season! Best Game I ever played from star wars I bought this game 3 weeks ago and I can honestly say it is the best star wars game ever !!!!! TRUST ME BUY THIS GAME NOW! Good game but some flaws Firstly this game is very good. The flight missions are fun and the ground missions add variety. The game also makes transitions from in-game cinematics to from-the-film cinematics which is very enjoyable. As in the other Rogue Squadron games you earn medals. This ups the replay value significantly because some levels need to be bought with points. You earn points by how good the medal is. Pros: Stunning graphics although capital ship explosions could be tweaked slightly (its barely noticible) Cons: Ground missions are a lot of A button pushing it is very hard to die on these (except for the speeder-bike) Other minor errors that dont bother me but their irritability varies from person to person Result: Great game good sign for the future Rogue Squadron 4 shold be amazing if they correct the flaws of this great game rent it first. they try a lot of new things with this game therefore some think its great game others say its so-so. People who rate this game below 3 are biased against GCN or havent played the game enough. Even if look at its flaws from the most pessimistic point of view the game is still in the upper 60% of all games out there. As I said Rogue Sqaudron 4 should be stunning if they fix all or even most flaws and if you think they arent goin to make a 4th you are crazy. This series has been far too successful to trash at first sign of minimal setback Until later Mike mrb2217 by: Anonymous On: 2003-11-09 Good but not great. The second one was much better. Hopefully next time Factor 5 will stick to flight missions and leave the foot missions out. If I wanted foot missions I would play the other Star Wars games. Good, but missions on-foot suck I ran to buy this game when it came out. I was a bit dissapointed with the walking-missions because you only have to tap the A button as fast as you can and there are very few movements. I also thought that when you got the lightsaber, you would have some kick-ass moves, but you can oly deflect lasers and hit enemies. On the other hand, I liked a lot most of the flight missions (especially the "Fondor" one, where you steal a tie hunter). The missions in speeder bike and AT-ST are VERY good (I rally liked the one in the forest because those funny bear things, apart from helping you dropping logs to desroy the other AT-STs, can be squashed). Another thing that I didnt like was that it was a bit too short and the last bonus mission (the onethat goes before the frustrating level called Rebel something) that seemed to be the one of the best in the game, was way too easy. awesome THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!! the grafics ar the BEST and missions are challenging bet fun. some people think the ground missions killed the game they didnt. if you like flying games buy it!!!!! awesome THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!! the grafics ar the BEST and missions are challenging bet fun. some people think the ground missions killed the game they didnt. if you like flying games buy it!!!!! Great Multiplayer!! Good Game but less than Rogue Leader by: Anonymous On: 2003-11-05 Its a good game but its not the greatest. I really really liked Rogue Leader and i had pretty high expectations on this one. The space battles are amazing but a little bit short and this its because you have to fight out of your ship for a while in some stages, but if you ever played a first person shooter or any shooter at all, you really gonna ask: What the heck these people were thinking? I felt like i was playing a very detail version of galaga!! (Sorry about that, Galaga!). Cooperative and Versus are GREAT!! You actually need a partner with some skill if you want to advance. Dont underestimate the power of the AI or theyll gonna kick your... you know what... Don't belive everything you here Having not actually played the full game I cannot give it a star rating.I have played the demo, many people think that the ground controles are clumsey, they are but that is not a good reason to not buy the game. I mean the flights in space more than make up for it and its not like the ground missions are impossible.I admit having a camera control would be nice but they still make it relitivly easy to distroy all the enemys. So if you like the star wars games you will most likly think this game is worth geting. Very Very Disapointing I rented this game for a weekend and I am extremely I bought Jak II instead of this. When I rented this I was ready to stay up all night playing it, after an hour I put it away. This game is a horrible disgrace of the star wars game license which is getting a bad reputation as it is. If it didnt have ground missions this game would have four stars, but those idiots at LucasArts thought "Lets try to annoy game fans in an all new dimension" and they added pointless idiotic ground missions. The flying missions and AT-AT or AT-ST or whatever missions are pretty good but can be annoying/confusing, hard core star wars fans should buy this because they will actually keep trying to win those stupid ground missions, but if you just want a good space shooting game get a different rogue squadron game A GOOD ONE!!! So if you like being frustrated out of your mind this is the game for you THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE... Rebel Strike is the third game of the great Rogue Squadren series. This one seems to be the best yet. Unlike the other two games, you are now able to fight utilizing vehicles, blasters and lightsabers. New Vehicles were also added such as the Tie Bomber, Tie Hunter, Jedi Starfighter and the list goes on! The replay value is unbelievable and the graphics breathtaking! Did I mention it also has multiplayer and co-op? IF anyone has written a review claimiing that Rogue Leader is better, there dead wrong as you can play all the missions of Rogue Leader in co-op! This is one of the best games for any console right now. Great Multiplayer!! Good Game but less than Rogue Leader Its a good game but its not the greatest. So if you like the star wars games you will most likly think this game is worth geting. Disappointing... The graphics of this game is great, fast paced with a lot of great control action. You can run, duck, and shoot on the ground, and fly, roll, accelerate, decrease speed in the air depending on the vehicle or 3rd person view you are playing in at the time. HOWEVER, the missions requirements are quite unclear and occasionally very difficult. There are no MODE settings, everyone plays in the same conditions. This game was designed with the idea the YOU NEED TO BUY THE GAME GUIDE because mission requirements are not adequately explained. The game becomes quickly frustrating and just thrown aside for better games with clearer goals and more enjoyable gameplay. The program is excellent if you want constant action that you continue to play through over and over trying to determine the order of enemies to destroy in order to complete the mission. The game should also offer some sensitivity selection to the controller. Overall, this game looks great on screen shots, but gameplay is tiresome and I lost interest quickly because of a lack of info on objectives. In addition, to unlock some of the better parts of this game requires you earning points to do so, which is disappointing since that may be more easier said than done for some players. NOT FOR SMALL CHILDREN because of no difficulty setting. Try Star Wars Clone Wars for smaller children or just for fun, though I enjoy classic trilogy stuff better. Just my opinion, but I say rent it first! THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE... Rebel Strike is the third game of the great Rogue Squadren series. This one seems to be the best yet. I have to say I am greatly disappointed. The graphics have imporved, but nothing else has. The on foot missions are not well designed, and the camera angles are bad. The targeting system often locks on to enemies that are behind cover, instead of locking on to the enemy right in front of you, shooting you. The missions where you fly are only average... I heard people on the internet talking about how it has bad camara angles. Well maby if they dont rush to there system to play the new game and not read the insructions, then they would know to change the view with the C stick. Well, let me give you a large summary of the game. First you start out on Yavin, Life is good you just destroyed the death star. Up on Courasont the Emporer is done torturing Vader for not saving the death star, and and has sent Vader and his troops to kill Luke Skywalker. Millions of soilders and and Ships have just landed, and you are just a little man on foot. You rush to get your best friend, Wedge and blast the Troopers to bits. They have invaded your headquarters and you have to reatreat. You rush into the head qurters pick up your dead allies guns and rush to your ship. You have to destroy all the Impereal Transports and Land. You see Wedge, the choice is yours. Continue as Luke or beacome Wedge. Of course you could exit and play 2 player missions or dogfights or destruction or race. I hope my review was helpful. I think you should by the game. A truly GREAT Star Wars game! A truly great game they brings the world of Star Wars in one great combination of game stlyes. Ranging from fighting in huge galactic space battles from the seat of an X-Wing, from piloting an fully armed AT-ST against a hord of ground troops, or flying a speeder bike through the forest of Endor, to fighting stormtroopers wielding a lightsaber or a trusty balster on foot, this game brings it all to you in a well balanced fashion. The game bascialy follows two different story lines, one following Lukes great adventures, consisting of missions that follow the great moments of the movies, like fighting at the Battle of Hoth or participating in the battle of Endor. The onther story line follows Wedge and the rest of Rogue squadron in other missions that moves through an interesting storyline. There are also the many bonus missions that are by far totally awsome and fun to play, Like going up against the Super Star Destoryer Executor, or the rescue of Leia on the Death Star are a great addision. The Graphics are off the scale and the coolness of driving an AT-ST and using it to mow down a buch of stormtroopers is too much to pase up, its not too hard to pick up on the stearing and loads of fun to shoot. The third person shooter mode in this game is well done concidering its coming from a game from a line of flight sims and offers a different kind of apsect of the game. The missions in the game are very long and can have an average of three areas to one mission so watch how many lives you got left. The game also offers somting new to the Rogue Squadron line in having not just a second player mode but also playing all of the Rogue Squadron II missions in coopritive mode. This is really a great game that brings everything to the table, a must buy even if dont like Star Wars because this game is very well done and has a little something for everybody. The Force is strong, somewhat After Rogue Leader, I didnt think that any game could surpass it in terms of gameplay, graphics, and the overall experience. I believed that only the sequel would do just that. It did not. First of all, I am not slamming the flight missions in any way. Theyre the one aspect of the Rogue Squadron games that have always rocked. Its the on-foot missions that bring the game down a bit. For starters, it just feels so clunky, and taking control of the heavy-repeating blaster (the gun that the Storm Troopers use) is a little frustrating since the aim centers. As for the flight missions, they are so tight. My favorite mission so far is Attack on the Executor. You actually get the chance to take on the Super-Star Destroyer Executor (the ship that crashed into the Death Star in Return of the Jedi). I personally like this game, but if youre just not sure, rent it first, or play with a friends copy. The Closest You'll Ever get to Being IN the Movies. by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-28 After the success of Rogue Leader on the Nintendo Gamecube, Factor 5 went back to work on yet another Rogue Squadron game. So, how exactly did it come out? Well, to be honest, it came out Just Fine. Thats right, all of those "reviews" you read slamming the game because of the "On-foot" missions are being WAAAYY to harsh. Yes, its true that they couldve implemented a camera to control of some type and more depth, but some of these foot missions are actually a bit fun. They also do a good job of recreating some of the coolest scenes from the movies. The Graphics are top notch and on the same level (and sometimes even better) as the previous game. The forest of Endor looks like a REAL forest. The flight missions are lot bigger and have more of a massive feel to them. Theres also a few parts in the game where youll control the Emipires own vehicles. The sound is all orchastrated and very crisp and clear (just like the graphics). For good measure, Factor 5 has also gotten permission to use a lot of movie clips (in DVD quality of course) from the Original Trilogy. To top it all of, theyve even thrown in (in its entirety) the previous game, Rogue Leader, which is accessable only in two player co-op. Theres also a versus mode where you can dogfight it out, race speeder bikes, see who can destroy the most, etc etc etc. This game has everything youd want from a Star Wars game. Dont believe the people who completely trash it because of the on foot missions. They are focusing way too much on one slightly negative aspect. Sure they couldve been better (and hopefully in the next game they will be) but they hardly detract from the overall fun this game has to offer. Heck, you might even love/like them. Half Good by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-28 As a number of reviewers have mentioned, the foot missions are what bring this game down - way down! It would be one thing if the foot missions were separate from the flight missions - yet often the flight missions are interrupted (right in the middle of great battles!) with forced foot missions. Terrible! Who wants to land on Geonosis when youre having a great time in the asteroid belt?! Also - and this was true for the Clone Wars - the designers rush you through the missions way too fast. No time to enjoy the scenery or take on a good number of the enemy. They rush you so fast on Hoth its ridiculous (so much for riding the Taun-Tauns). Why cant game designers get it through their heads that you dont have to rush the gamer all the time. Let us take in and appreciate your design work - and dogfight to our hearts content! Looked forward to this game. Disappointed. The Force is strong, somewhat After Rogue Leader, I didnt think that any game could surpass it in terms of gameplay, graphics, and the overall experience. The space combat is a good as it gets i think, but the ground missions...*shakes head* not right... a gamer from New york NY thats mean to make him play those...what a crule person you are OK I GUESS THIS GAME WAS HYPED WAY TOO MUCH.I GOT IT HOME AND REALIZED IT WAS NOT AS VISUALLY STUNNING AS ROGUE SQUADRON.THE ON FOOT MISSIONS ARE CLUNKY AND HARD TO TARGET ENEMYS.ALMOST FELT LIKE YOU WERE PLAYING TAG INSTEAD OF SHOOTING THEM.AND THE GAME ALSO SEEMED ABNORMALLY DARK HAD TO TURN UP BRIGHTNESS ON MY HDTV TO SEE SOME OF THE ACTION.I MEAN OVERALL IT WAS A FUN GAME AND IM STILL ON THE SECOND LEVEL ALOT TO GO YET.BUT I WAS MORE IMPRESSED WITH ROGUE SQUADRON. awesome by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-26 This was one of the best games I ever played. The graphics are amazing. You can play as mostly as anything. A-wings, x-wings,b-wings,y-wings,tie bombers, the millenium falcon, snowspeeder, tauntauns, at-sts and ever speeder bikes. my most favorite is piloting and at-st. you can also play a 2 player version of rogue leader. You can play in rampages, dogfights, capture the base and even races. The only thing that I dont like about this game is that when the walkers and tie fighters and everything else moves far away from you, they move jaggedy and it is not smooth. Otherwise, it is awesome. If your a star wars fan you have to get this game. Well.... Best Simulator yet by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-25 I loved this game beyond belief, Ive played the orginals and this game is by far the best. This game is huge, it holds so much content, every Star Wars fan in the world should have this game it rocks!!! Not bad, but... by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-24 Anyone who rated this game a 5 out of 5 in clearly a plant from Lucas Arts, or someone from Amazon that just wants you to buy the game. The levels in which you pilot a ship are great, but unfortunately the levels where you move Luke, Wedge or Han around on foot nearly ruin the game. They move awkwardly, the auto targeting picks poor targets, and for some inexplicable reason, you cant control your viewing angle. Apparantly Lucas Arts thought movie clips would make up for poor gameplay. Great with One HUGE Flaw The other reviews on amazon I believe have either overrated or underrated this game. I will say that the parts out of the ships are not that good at all and I think they were a big mistake. But this game also has some great features like finally adding a two-player mode with both cooperative missions and versus missions. The hidden craft are great! I will not reveil any of them but they are fun to piolt. Other than these two player mode and non-starcraft missions it is pretty similar to the last two so if you liked the last two you will probally like this one to. Craig's Review about this game. by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-24 Ok, this got this rating first because of the ground missions. I am going to be honest in the fact that they suck. Why would you want to play ground missions? Dont ask me. This Game would have gotten a better rating by my self as well as ign and gamespot. The only thing that kept this game down was the ground missions. If you can get passed the ground missions the flight missions are very cool. I have played a lot of star wars games and read books. Some of these missions are actually on other games. Or at least they deal with the same situations and are dealt with similar. The idea of switching between Wedge and Luke was very cool. The sound on this game was very good but the fact that it is on EVERY Star Wars game. The graphics arent much different from the second game. The best addition to this game was the multiplayer function. Finally after all this time of hoping to play multiplayer it has come true. The only down fall to it is the same down fall of every multiplayer game and that is the screen is too small. But it is fun to blow up your friends or save your friends from certain destruction. If you are a hard core fan this is going to be a fun game. If this is the first time playing one of the Rogue Squadron you will have fun but remember the other games are just the same without two player and the stupid ground missions. Best Simulator yet I loved this game beyond belief, Ive played the orginals and this game is by far the best. This game is huge, it holds so much content, every Star Wars fan in the world should have this game it rocks!!! Why? by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-23 Nooooooo! Why do Luke and Wedge run around like headless chickens? Please stay inside your vehicles and dont come out :( I like the vehicle boards. So when I have to share with my kid brother, I make him play the stoopid boards where you run around as Luke (after eating too much of Yodas chilli ) Not as good as RS II First off, people should not be able to review items before they came out. Just because you are a star wars fan, does not mean that EVERYTHING that comes out will be great. Case in point, this game. It looks good, it sounds good, but it doesnt play good. I love Star Wars, and LOVED Rogue Squadron 2. This one isnt as good. There are too many missions where you are on foot, and they [stink]!... Luke is hard to manuever, the camera doesnt always zoom in to a useful angle (especially on Dagobah where if you misjump, you die) and oftentimes the auto-targeting of enemies will lock on to enemies behind a wall or other cover, while closer enemies are right in front of you blasting away. Plus, all you do in those levels is mash the fire button. Not that exciting. The flight missions are better. They look great, the ships are awesome once again, its more fun. However, not all of them are well designed. For isntance, on Geonosis, there is an awesome opener where you fight some bad guys. However, there is a pointless ep II tie-in for the second part which is more tedious walking around, and then an awesome part III. Why ruin the fun of flying around and fighting in space, with some pointless running around on the surface? It doesnt inspire me to play again, since you cant skip the tedious on foot section. It is this kind of poor design that ruins the game for me. Or the Hoth level. Not very open ended. You just follow someone else on tauntaun, its not as expansive as the hoth level on RSII. It looks nice, but you are RUSHED through it so fast you cant see anything or explore. Or another level requires you to fly in a tunnel avoiding energy beams, similar to Death Star Escape from RSII. I just hate those kind of avoid the obstacle type levels. If you like them, this is your level! Overall, I can still go back and play RS2 and enjoy the levels again. The Kothlis level, the Razor level, the Maw, the battle of Endor, those are all lots of fun to play over and over. On Rebel Strike, there arent many worth playing over and over again. All the on-foot levels were chore enough to get through once, let alone twice. And the other ones, eh....not as well designed. Not to mention not as well narrated. Often you are just thrown into a sitaution without any kind of prologue or info, and you just kinda have to figure out what to do by trial and error. It could have been SO much more. I ran out to buy it the second it came out, as I love Star Wars. This game while it looks good, is loaded with extras, etc etc etc is marred by exceptionally poor gameplay on the on foot missions, and poor level design on some of the others. Id rent it and check it out first. And honestly guys, Id play it before I gave it 5 stars. I typically dont rave to the chef about the meal BEFORE it is served. Great with One HUGE Flaw The other reviews on amazon I believe have either overrated or underrated this game. Disappointing This game was a huge disappointment for me. I loved the first Rogue Squadron on the N64 and still love and play Rogue Leader on my GC, but this game just had me disgusted. The levels all seem to rush you from one cinematic to the next. I know the medals all have strict time requirements but in Rebel Strike it felt like there wasnt any free time to explore or just have some fun shooting down Imperials. How are you supposed to get any of the upgrades? For me a game must first be fun and I didnt have any fun. Craig's Review about this game. You Have Been Warned ! by: Anonymous On: 2003-10-14 Sorry most people find this review unhelpful. I still think most of these reviews are off. If you look at the reviews on IGN.com or Gamespot.com, youll see that they agree with my complaints about the controls when running sround the ground. Heres what IGN.com said about the new ground-based missions: Gamespot.com said this about the ground-based missions: Gamesdomain.com had this to say "On foot, the problem is two-fold. For one, the camera is on a strictly preset path and refuses to move. Enemies, however, are not, so its quite possible for you to end up with baddies outside your field of view, but still shooting at you. A simple camera control would have been the more elegant solution. Another problem is the horrid aiming system. Your characters have an utter inability to strafe while on foot and only a very limited lock-on capability. The result? You spend most of your time firing in the direction you are facing. While this works well for space combat, it fails miserably when fighting on foot, as any action gamer well knows. It doesnt render the game unplayable, but some of these levels are more annoying than they need to be." Electronic Gaming Monthly has this to say: "These problems are really evident when soon-to-be Jedi master Luke Skywalker or his unsung-hero wingman Wedge Antilles (Rebel Strikes two main playable characters) head out on foot. Then the game turns into a monotonous run-and-duck shooting parade in which the characters move with the same grace as a Star Wars action figure brought to herky-jerky life by a first-year Jedi-academy student." and also "Theres an unstated-although quickly obvious-rule in Rebel Strike: If youre in a vehicle, youre having fun. If youre not, youre really not having fun. " Do you remember this developers (3rd person) adventure game Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine? Of course you dont because the game was panned for unresponsive 3rd person controls and clipping problems among other things. Paste some Star Wars skins on the character model and you get the idea. Dont blame me when youre disappointed by the new ground stages in which you run around as Luke. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. The 4 or 5 star reviews are from fanatical fans of the previous games who have not yet played the game(or employees at Lucas Arts or Factor 5). I think my review is fair because: A) I have the 2 previous games and I enjoyed them and B) I played the game unlike most other reviewers so far. If the rabid fan reviewers had tried the game, they would have seen that the game has a critical flaw. The much-hyped ground missions in which you run around as Luke Skywalker has very jerky controls. Also, unlike 99% of all 3D first person shooter games, you CANT CONTROL THE CAMERA while running around! It actually feels very constrained and claustrophic to not be able to look UP or AROUND ! You control Luke like the old arcade game ROBOTRON 2084 (but with less finesse) or like a guy in a fat suit with concrete shoes. Dont be fooled by the nice graphics youve been seeing. I suggest renting it first or waiting for a full review! The average of all the videogame website reviews is about a 3 out of 4 stars (due to the vehicle based missions). Metacritic.com averages this game to 77 out of 100. Why am I rating this game 1 star? Its because I really hate the ground based missions. They are amateurish and the controls on those stages are better in a much older game like Shadows of the Empire. Also, my low rating (hopefully) balances out the fanatical 5 stars fabid Star Wars geeks are giving this game without first having played it. Im surprised by all the people claiming this review/warning was unhelpful. Im guessing its from the rabid Star Wars fans, with their biased and uncritical points of view, who fear a dissenting opinion. You Have Been Warned ! Sorry most people find this review unhelpful. Presenting Starwars Rebel Strike:LIVE THE ADVENTURE I own rogue squadron I and II so I know what Im talking about here. After seeing and hearing much footage from IGN.com about the new rogue squadron I am impressed...GREATLY! on foot with a blaster, lightsaber, or manning a anti-infantry gun. Attacking from the high perch of a AT-ST, or swooping to the rescue in a speeder bike, manning the classic vehicles like the A,X,B, and Y wings as well as the TIE fighter, interceptor, and X1, The Millenium Falcon, Slave I, and of course the Naboo Starfighter. Theyre all here, waiting in that shiny new 128bit hanger, just for you. Promising a advanced two player mode utilizing Rogue Squadron II, you and a friend can blast apart the deathstar time and again. A totally new engine promising more ships, new graphics that will put Episode I to shame, and getting to mow down defenseless stormtroopers. Dogfight your friend or just outshoot him in the intricate vs modes. The bonuses on this game are EXTREME! Lets not forget the new airborne and groundborne, enemies and friends. And while your out saving that galaxy far far away, dont forget to look at the 128bit scenery, the new oceans will be pretty....STARWARS ROGUE SQAUDRON III:REBEL STRIKE, COMING TO A CONSOLE NEAR YOU... Definately the best of the trilogy This game is no less than the best Star Wars game ever. You not only use spaceships, like in the other games. You can use the hovering bikes from the moon of endor, your lightsabre and many other vehicles. It also features a multiplayer mode in which you can play cooperatively. All in all, I recomend this game to any Star Wars fan. Actually, I recommend it to anyone. What everyone has been waiting for... When i first heard about Rebel Strike, I just assumed that it would be like the others. I was very wrong. Having played the demo, I am in awe of how far games have come. The graphics and sound are amazing, almost lifelike. The gameplay is what you expect, with new stuff such as multiplayer(Which includes the full Rogue Squadron 2 game to play in), being able to get out of your ship, and use things such as Taun-Tauns, speeder bikes, and of course, Lightsabers. All in all, I cannot wait until this game will be released... sweet, sweet sweet sweet SWEET SWEET I cant wait for this game to come out. The first one was the best game I ever played. the graphics were better than the movies. i hope u can play as a at-st or something. anyway i cant wait It's Back! by: Anonymous On: 2003-09-09 Get back behind the controls of an X-wing fighter or lead assaults against the Empire on foot as the critically acclaimed smash hit action arcade series from LucasArts continues with Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike. Available fall 2003, this game continues the high-flying space battle traditions of previous Rogue Squadrons, and adds multiplayer, character-based and ground combat into the mix. This new title features stunning, movie-like visuals over more than 13 action-packed missions. The battles themselves combine different forms of combat and play: a mission that starts high in the air over Yavin 4 can then turn into a ground-based gunfight with stormtroopers in the jungle, and then return to the air for twisting dogfight action. As with the previous chapters in the series, Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike has a story beneath the gameplay, driving the action and keeping it part of the Star Wars saga. Among the vessels available for players are the X-wing, Millennium Falcon, Alliance snowspeeder, Imperial speeder bike and AT-ST walker. In character-based combat, players can carry out missions as Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, or Han Solo. The vividly recreated locales include the forests of Endor, the frozen plains of Hoth, Bespins Cloud City, and more. Multiplayer modes encompass co-op endurance, capture-the-base, challenging dogfights and more. In addition, the entire Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader game is available for play in cooperative multiplayer mode. The game also features a comprehensive reward system allowing players to unlock numerous bonus features including extra missions, vehicles, and locations. AWSOME!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-09-08 The best game in history! I cant wait untill it comes out. This is the first thng on my Birthday list! I thought Rouge Leader was as good as it gets, but this is 10 times better. While you still get be Wedge Antilles in flight missions you also get to be Luke and battle Darth Vader or tear apart a AT-AT. Super Fans of Rouge Leader, dont worry, you get to play every rouge leader mission in Rouge Squadron 3:Rebal Strike(including hidden ones) in 2 player. I just cant wait any longer. Best of the three by: Anonymous On: 2003-09-02 This game will be awesome. In addition to having new ships to fly, there will be missions where you walk, ride animals, and fly land speeders. The graphics look great, and youre teamates will be more interactive. Also there are two multiplayer modes, one where you can play against your friends, and another where you can play every mission of rogue leader in cooprative mode agianst the computer. I will definetly buy it as soon as it comes out. Best of the three This game will be awesome. This one will be the fizzle thizzle shizzle. I will definitley buy it the day it comes out, and scream,"Now this is Pod Racing!" When I own this game the circle will be COMPLETE!! ALL RIGHT! Can't Wait!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-08-01 Ive played games like Rogue Squadron 2, and I swear was one of the best games ever.. and i bet that this one is going to be even better. I like the multiplayer mode because me and my brother usually fights over who gets to play, and Im hoping that it will fix our problem. Ive seen trailers and screenshots and they all look AWESOME!! Cant wait, just 2 more months. This game is gonna rock!!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-07-26 I bought a gamecube for Rogue Squadron 2 and it was a whole alot better than the first one on N64. I have waited a long time for this game, but its gonna pay off. All the new features are gonna make this a must have game for gamecube. Here comes another.......... Well, Ive waited for a long time for the next installment to come out. The only reason i bought gamecube was for RS2, but from wut it looks like, RS3s graphics kick ..., there r more options, and theres a multiplayer function. It looks to be one of the best games Gamecube has had in......ever! Looking forward to it!! by: Anonymous On: 2003-07-04 First of all, I would like to say that Ive played Rogue Squadron II. It was an above average game, but nothing realy incredible to distinguish it from any other game. But this version, Rebel Strike looks awesome. To be perfectly honest, I havent seen all that much of this game. I read a couple of small articles about it in NP (Nintendo Power), but not much more than that. But from what Ive seen it looks incredible. It is similar to Enter the Matrix (which rules) in that you get to choose between two characters at the beginning of the game. One of them is Luke, and the other one is some guy I cant remember, maybe Lando. If you choose to play as Luke, then you go around with your lightsaber and play the game, probably similar to Jedi Outcast II, except better. If you play the game as Lando or whoever, then you I think you fly around in a ship and go around with a gun like a slightly above average first person shooter. Out of both of those you should probably get a lot of gameplay time, which is great. But the really great feature of this game that I am looking forward to the most is the co-op mode (cooperation mode, play the game with a friend). Now, the only game with a co-op mode that Ive ever played is Halo, so maybe my expections are a bit high. Ive heard of some Gamecube games with co-op modes such as Ghost Recon and Medal of Honor: Frontline. Id like to get Ghost Recon, and Ive played Medal of Honor: Frontline and hated it (bad graphics, awkward controls, no fun weapons). Im pretty sure that both of these games have co-op modes, but the cant be as good as Halos. But this game looks incredible, maybe even a better co-op mode than Halo. You can actually play all of Rogue Squadron II with a friend. Imagine battling on Hoth and flying around in your X-Wing with a buddy, shooting down enemies. Every single level from Rogue Squadron II can be played with a friend, every single one! Now if that doesnt give this game five stars, then what will? Here comes another..........
