![]() Official Nintendo Classic Gamecube / Wii Controller By: Nintendo Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 35 More Information Great purchase! I bought this controller because i sold my gamecube system and had to give away the controller. I am pleased with this purchase because the controller works, matches the wii, and has a really long cord. The only downside is that the packaging is all in japanese. But the controller has only english on it. Odd but it gets the job done. Gamecube controller This game controller is much better than any other controller that I have used on the Gamecube. Although the A button is stiff the controller itself is and is very well built. I will recommend getting this controller for the Gamecube if you love playing your games for a long time. Gamecube/ Wii controller I will only use first party accessories when it comes to controllers so Im glad that nintendo chose to re-release this product because of Wii games like Mario Kart Wii and SSB Brawl that can use this controller instead of the classic controller or Wii remote. The quality is always good with nintendo products plus the cable is now 3 meters long VS the old 2 meter cables on the original GC controllers. My only wish is for nintendo to release this product to the rest of the world and not only in Japan so it would be cheaper and I could buy it anywhere. Amazon or whoever they may get it from imports these made in china controllers from Japan. the real deal. This controller is exactly what I have been looking for months now. I tried Ebay but the two i bought from there were NOT what they were advertising. When I came across this controller on amazon I was a little sketchy as to buy it, so i took a shot. When the controller arrived it was exactly what they advertised in picture and description. It works perfectly and I have had no troubles with it. it also shipped out quite fast! very happy with this and suggest everyone else use this product! Perfect Product I ordered this pretty much exclusively to play SSBB competitively. It arrived quickly, and I was surprised by the length of the cord; the cord really gives you the option of not sitting in lasic surgery range of the TV while playing. The controller works smoothly and responds well. For Brawl, I removed the springs in the shoulder buttons and the operation of them remains solid. I even sanded and painted the remote with good results. Overall, its a name-brand remote... what do you expect? Its well worth the money to buy this over a knock-off brand that has cheaper internals and cuts corner on quality. Nothing New, But Certainly Useful Really, theres not much to say about this. Its more or less identical to the original Gamecube controller from years back. The only differences are the new color(remember, the original controller was purple) and the cord is a little longer. Personally, I would rather Nintendo reissue the awesome Wavebird, but still, Im glad they at least put this out. Its certainly great for anyone who wants to play Gamecube games on their Wii. Definitely a better route to take than going on eBay or wherever and buying an old used one that will be in god knows what kind of condition. Once you get this, go track down some of those classic Gamecube titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Eternal Darkness! Youll be glad you did. There are a lot of excellent Gamecube games that deserve a second chance. Great controller This controller is a great buy, and is very useful on Wii games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and many others, and of course its a necessity if youre going to play Gamecube games on your Wii (just dont forget to also get a Gamecube memory card as well to save your Gamecube game files -- SD cards on the Wii wont work for Gamecube games). The cord is a good length and the buttons are nice and responsive, as I would expect from an official controller (I tend to shy away from buying third-party controllers). This is not a game. Silly Amazon.com, this is a gamecube controller! The extra feet on the cable make it vastly preferable to the original GCN controllers, and the white-only color scheme will let you know which of your friends actually wash their hands before playing. So, I guess its a strict improvement over the GCN controller. best cube controller there is nintendo still makes these for a reason, and that reason is that in addition to being one of the best controllers ever designed its also the only usable controller for most 3D games. the classic controller is well suited to 2D and the wiimote works well for motion enabled games, but the gamecube pad is the only one that makes sense for the N64 and modern games with conventional controls... so if you want to play a variety of games comfortably, you unfortunately have to buy all three. luckily this controller is well worth the cost. the build quality is just as high (if not slightly better) than the originals; the difference is that the cord is thicker and several feet longer so that you can play without pulling the console over, and both the cord and controller are colored to match the wii. the white finish looks really attractive in person; the original controllers with black cables will look ugly in comparison. but let it be known that this controller does not work well for everything; SNES titles and earlier can be awkward or unplayable using the gamecube button layout. again, your best bet for those is the classic controller pro. this controller is suited to N64 games, gamecube games (obviously), and wii games like mariokart that dont lose anything by ditching motion controls, so be aware of whats in your library before you decide. Perfect Product This is a great controller. It works just as well as the original, except it is a little better due to the 10 foot cord. There isnt much more to say except for that it is well designed, comfortable, and durable. Great work, Nintendo. It may be more expensive than the generic controllers, but it is well worth it. I have been through about 5 or 6 off-brands before deciding to invest the money on a genuine Nintendo controller. I have had an original since 2002 with no problems and am expecting the same results with this one as well. Nintendo Game cube Sorry, I cannot rate this item yet, as I have not had the time to uce it, Controller: designed for gamecube Much has been said about this controller already, but I noticed no one really says much about its use on the Wii. Note that this controller must be directly plugged into the Wii console, not the remote. Its cord is very long, so its not too much of a drawback. Also, the remote doesnt substitute for the Wii remotes. In other words, on the Wii main screen, you cant move the cursor around with this remote. Other than that, this remote works great. A lot of wii games dont support a rumble pack, so you wont get that feature anyway. Rubber Gripping Has Short-Term Durability Im a (now retired) competitive Super Smash Bros. player, and Ive played on dozens of iterations of the original Gamecube controller over the last several years. The primary differences between this white Nintendo Wii Classic Gamecube Controller is that it is supposed to boast a slightly better build quality and has a significantly longer cord. Ive played on several of these types of controllers in the past as the hardcore competitive elite started to slowly set their eyes on this model (which was originally exclusive to [...]) back in 2008, and I was impressed with their quality. However, the two models that I had shipped and re-shipped to me had the same problem: I had been able to literally rub out the etched grooves in the rubber gripping of both controllers in under three hours of play. My friends and I own original Gamecube controllers from the day of the Gamecubes launch back in 2001, and that problem didnt even surface until literally four or five years into the lifespan of these controllers. Im not exactly sure what it is about the two particular ones I tried out, but I decided to call it quits since it seemed like the problem was going to persist with the particular models being sold through Amazon. Absolutely TERRIBLE just skip this item. not even worth your time to look at it any more. buttons stick, controls non-responsive. Might pick up more of these even though I don't have too... The main problem with the final generation Gamecube Controller that was made for us here in the states (And is in fact still available if for whatever reason you should feel the need to throw your money away on one from Nintendos Online store)is that well... Its crap... The sparkling silver coating to the control will start to rub off within mere minutes of use revealing large ugly binge colored balds spots after roughly a weeks time... And the buttons where just flat out NOT MEANT TO BE USED making the entire point of the device nonsensical at best... (Just about anything will brake on it within a months time if used regularly) That rant having been sorely noted (Sorry) this brings us to this lovely little import... Absolutely NOTHING that I mentioned that is an issue with the final print American model is an issue with the Japanese one... While not as heavy as the earlier print (Purple & Black) American controllers this White one is built every bit as well... (In other words buttons & sticks just dont brake on them without gross excessive force) The Controller has the same kind of soft yet hard paper like feeling plastic that the Nintendo DS has had coating the inside of those units since the release of the DS Light... Which gives the controller a strange almost silk like texture when held... And to make the Controller more sensible for the Nintendo Wii (A primarily wireless device) it was given a ten foot long cord so you could still sit a reasonable distance from the unit without the need of any extra extension cords or having the unit sit closer to you... All in all this one is a no brainier, If you are in the market for a Gamecube Controller given the price of those horrible third party knockoffs and the fact that Nintendo themselves doesnt offer anyone outside of Japan ANYTHING better then this (In fact what they offer is actually worse) well... This import really is your one & only choice... Thankfully once you have it (Unless you are the type who THRASHS there controls) you should be good to go for a vary long time... It's a Gamecube pad....yay! Really nothing to add to what V.S. Romero and others have said, but heck, heres another score for it. It is in fact a Gamecube controller, in white to match the Wii (looks real nice). It is actually a Japanese import, which really doesnt matter at all. All the buttons, Even the logo and Start/Pause button are labeled the same as they were on the U.S. versions. Its kind of fun to see the Japanese packaging (and of course I cant read the manual...which I wouldnt have read anyway, given it amounts to "plug the controller in and play a game") Id love to be able to vouch for the cord being longer (and personally I VASTLY prefer wired controllers to wireless), but I live in a different place and have a different gaming setup than I did when I regularly played my Gamecube. Its long enough to reach my bed without issues, and I know my Gamecube controllers I had to use extension cords, but Im not sure if Im the same distance from my TV or not. Oh, and this would work just fine for Gamecube owners too-you dont have to have a Wii. If youre ever planning on buying Gamecube games, whether for the Wii or Gamecube, Id recommend stocking up on these while theyre still available, since unfortunately the Classic Controller cant work for Gamecube games (the Wii just shuts off any extra stuff that was added on top of the Gamecube hardware when running Gamecube games) :( only new controllers. expensive though! This controller is a legit nintendo product imported from Japan. It is well constructed, but a little different than the original GC controllers, which are no longer made. The sticks feel different. C-stick not working Unexpected that the C-stick failed to work properly when I got a brand-new controller. This is disappointing. Awesome! Amazon order! Ive been having a lot of trouble finding Nintendo brand Gamecube controllers. This was a life saver! It matches my Wii and the shipping was super fast! Great service and a great product! Official Nintendo Classic Gamecube / Wii Controller This is a very nice Nintendo manufactured controller. Ive tried a few third party brand controllers and the overall quality and responsiveness just dont match the official Nintendo products. Yes it is more expensive but well worth the extra cash. This also has a nice long cord - probably twice the length of the original GAMECUBE controllers. Im very pleased with this purchase. If you play ssbm competitively, this is the controller for you This controller is phenomenal. I was expecting to have to wear this controller in for a while, but after about 5 minutes it was already playing better than my previous controller. Not to mention the 10 cord is amazing. If you need a new controller you can play with normally right away, this is the controller for you. Great controller I bought this to play Gamecube and Virtual Console games on the Wii. Its a regular Gamecube controller and its well constructed. I particularly like the 10 foot cord. I can play from the couch without having to move anything. Its also a nice perk that it matches the white color of the Wii. Id recommend this to anyone who has a need for a Gamecube controller. Im glad Nintendo made this new version. Just like back in the day THis is a carbon copy of the original Gamecube controllers. It works great and has a long enough cord for just about anybody. Only the original. This is, in its essence, the GameCube controller. The only differences are that it has a much longer cord than the original one (10 ft, or 3m, about the length of the PS2s, maybe longer), and it has been specially colored white for use with the Wii. I never owned a GameCube, but as soon as I started playing Wii the first GameCube game I purchased was The Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition. Naturally, I needed a GCN controller to play, so I ventured to my local GameStop and bought a used black one. I thought it was great, but the short cord really made me use it less--especially since I eventually purchased the WaveBird. I decided to give this one a try, and for my first test played Brawl. It was simply fantastic. The actual product is a Japanese import straight from Nintendo, and the box and instructions are all in Japanese (save for the obligatory English titles). Thats not much of a bad thing since all you really have to do is plug and play, and everything on the controller is in English. I sold the black one to help fund this, and it was well worth the extra money, if just for the longer cord. I can sit far back from the TV as I do with the WaveBird, but now with one longed-for feature: rumble (or vibration). I was hesitant in purchasing this because other reviews didnt mention rumble, but I guess I shouldve known since this is Nintendos original GCN controller, redesigned for the Wii by making it with a longer cord and in white. The white color really adds some dash and goes well with a white Wii. Though I personally wish Nintendo would come out with a WaveBird 2 with rumble (or just the regular controller, but wireless), this is pretty much the next best thing. Yes, this controller really makes that much difference for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii. Great value for your money The best price I found for a Original gamecube controller and a great color, I recommended 100% Gamecube controllers are my favorite gamecube controllers I bought this controller for my Wii to play gamecube games, as well as games like Brawl and Guilty Gear that use the gamecube controller optionally. Its a good white color, which matches the Wii. It has a very long cord, which I believe is longer than the original gamecube controllers. The construction seems sturdy enough, and none of the buttons are spongy or stiff. Overall, a good controller. You get what you pay for. Its only 4 stars though, because I received a product from the Japanese Nintendo store. The packaging and instructions are all in Japanese. Not that you need instructions (insert end into Wii, play), but its nice to have the support numbers, safety information, troubleshooting, etc... in a language I can understand in case anything goes wrong. Ideal for the Wii This is simply a GameCube Controller in white color, and a long cord too. if you have a wii and need a gamecube controller, no matter if is for virtual console or play gamecube games, you really need one of this, because it match perfectly the wii color, and actually looks like it was a part of it, is so nice to tune up your wii. The One to Buy Once we bought our Wii system, I found out that GameCube games worked on it also. I had never played GameCube so it opened up a whole new set of games for me. The only problem was finding a controller since the Wii remotes dont work with Gamecube games. I tried 2 other controllers prior to buying this one. One - a cordless variety - I purchased at Walmart. The controls were much too loose. It was hard to focus on any small object during game play. I also tried another variety that I purchased off Amazon - a cheap corded version. It was completely useless. I got so frustrated with trying to play that I gave up. Finally I spent the extra money and ordered the official Nentendo controller. It was well worth the extra money and I would have actually saved if I had bought it to begin with. It is lightweight. The cord is extra long which gives plenty of room to sit back from the television to play. The controls are very quick and very precise. This is definitely the controller that you want to purchase for your GameCube games on Wii. Zee Bestest Kontroller 4 Mario Kart The design of this controller is perfect for Mario Kart. The handles gives you a firm grip on this controller unlike the smooth design of the regular wii controller. I also like that the left joystick is above the d-pad which makes turning your kart easier. The Left button is perfect for when you have to hold a green shell or fake prize because of the design your finger wont slip off. The best part of this controller is the 10ft cord! YES thats right! 10Feetz! no more playing jump rope with your Wii console! I also like that it is an Official Nintendo controller. Ive bought cheap copycat controllers from other companys in the past but they ALWAYS seem to break down so fast. Its better to spend a little bit more money for a better product. My kids have a large assortment of Wii games and this is the controller that they prefer to use all the time. Highly Recommended!!! Great controller for the price The Classic Gamecube controller is perfect for the extra money. Though slightly more pricey than a normal Gamecube controller, its worth it in that you get a HUGE, long cable thats at least a good three-five feet. Official Nintendo Controller... For Japan Only - Imported from Japan (But Still Good) - When I first saw the box I could not find the Official Nintendo Seal anywhere on the box. All official Nintendo products have this seal(in North America). With closer inspection I noticed that the whole outside of the box was all written in Japanese. The instruction booklet was completely in Japanese also. Then I noticed one small patch of English on the back of the box which states "FOR SALE AND USE IN JAPAN ONLY". That answered my question on why the box and instructions were all in Japanese. I also learned that the Official Nintendo Seal is not used in Japan by Nintendo. - Detailed Review - So yes after all this controller is an official Nintendo controller made for Japan. The controller works, looks, and functions like the original controllers sold for the GameCube. The only difference is the cord is longer and it is white in color. I dont know if there is an official Nintendo of America version of this, I dont believe so because I have not seen it in stores or any other website. I do hope that Nintendo of America will eventually officially sell this product in the USA in the near future. I dont know what the legal implications are for Amazon or myself for using this controller. Amazon is most likely the one to get in trouble for selling this controller in the USA and other regions of the world. But I have no clue what legal action can be taken, Nintendo might just yell at them and I am not to worried about my use of the product. As stated before the manual is completely in Japanese and there is no English version included. That is not much of a problem because it is easy to use, all you have to do is plug it in and start playing. As far as warranties go on this I have no clue because it is all in Japanese and I am using it outside of the only country it was intended for. Nevertheless it is still a great product and you are most likely not going to need a warranty. My advice is to pay the cash for this controller because they work and will keep working. I have had 2 off-brand controllers fail on me and another on its way to failing. While all that was going on I had 2 original Official Brand Nintendo controllers that worked flawlessly, still work today, and I expect them to last very far into the future. I plan on buying another one of these so I have four official Nintendo controllers that I know will work and last for a long time. - Final Thoughts - If you need a good controller for your GameCube or to play GameCube games on the Wii get this one. Even with the Japan issue I am still giving it five stars. I dont care that it is from Japan, that is Amazons problem and I wanted to let anyone reading this know it will probably be a Japan version so you are not surprised like I was. Amazing Controller Ive run through a couple of controllers in my playing time and none have been like this controller. Usually when you buy a new controller it takes a few months to break it in, so it starts playing like you want it to for games like Smash Brothers Melee and other games that require precise timing with the controller, well this controllers comes ready for that without the wait or the preparing, it feels like a dream. So if you want to play Smash Brothers Melee in an advance manner or any other game for Gamecube or Wii, this is the classic controller to get. Perfection If there has ever been a controller out there that you have been looking for then look no further because this has got to be the best Gamecube controller Ive ever found. It plays perfectly and the buttons are smooth; the L and R buttons click in fast without any real push from the springs. The 10ft( or 3m[or 9.8ft for those technical guys]) cord was a surprise to me, I didnt even know it was going to be that long and really Im glad it was. A long cord like that for controllers work well for where i play my games. This is a definite recommendation and I urge all those looking to buy a new controller to pick this up even if you think the price might not be worth it, just trust me cuz it truly is. You wont regret buying this product. Really great controller This is the official Nintendo Gamecube controller. This, obviously, can be used on the gamecube and also the Wii. This controller looks amazing in its clean, stylish white color. What is really nice about this certain colored gamecube controller is that it matches the Wiis color, and more importantly, has a longer cable than the other colors. This is overall a great purchase to anyone looking to play Gamecube games, and certain Wii games such as Super smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Kart Wii. It's a Gamecube Controller Its straight up a standard Gamecube controller but colored to match a Wii. The cord for it seems to be about 10ft which (if I recall correctly) is much longer than the original Gamecube controllers cord was. Id recommend it for anyone who needs a Gamecube controller in general or if youre looking for one for the Wii. |
