Dimensions: Length: 7.5" Width: 5.4" Height: 0.6" Product Description: Unlike Capcoms release of the original Resident Evil on GameCube, which was a revamped game designed to take advantage of the 128-bit platform, Resident Evil 2 is straightforward port of 2000s Dreamcast version with no additional enhancements to visuals, sound, or significant changes to gameplay. This game, along with Resident Evil 3, has been released with the intent to round out the storyline beginning with Resident Evil 0. For those unfamiliar with previous versions of Resident Evil 2, players take control of police officer Leon Kennedy or Chris Redfields sister, Claire, as they make their way through a series of static, pre-rendered environments. Reviews Probably, the BEST Resident Evil ever. by: on: 16-Jun 2010 Resident Evil 2 is my fav in the series. RE3 and RE4 trailing pretty closely behind. RE2 (as fans call it) was originally released for the PS1 (original Playstation), then later the N64 (Nintendo 64) and Sega Dreamcast. The Gamecube version is probably the ideal version because it can also be played on the Wii, provided Gamecube controller & memory unit. The graphics- On par with the N64 and Dreamcast versions, and BETTER than the PS1 version. The only weak point being the CG (movie) scenes. The actual "in-game" graphics weren't overhauled for the Gamecube, but they don't need to be. They're effective at delivering a great B-movie story and creepy atmosphere. Then, of course, there's a bit of 5th gen nastolgia. The story- Takes place AFTER RE1, and during RE3. In fact, if you play RE3 (also available for GC), you'll notice similar locales around the police station areas and intertwining stories. Controls- Like RE1, RE3 and RE Code Veronica. To some, these tank-like controls are bothersome. To others, they're a natural part of what they've come to expect in a Resident Evil game. I'm cool with it, myself. Bottom line- 5/5. The enviornmental puzzles, action, atmosphere are all at their perfect balance in RE2. Both the N64 AND Gamecube versions are worth owning, depending on which console you own. And if you own a Wii and a Gamecube controller and memory unit, do yourself a favor and get RE2. survival horror at its finest by: on: 17-Feb 2010 Get it...trust me, this game is too good to be true. If you love the old resident evil's, this is where the series is at its finest. ZOMBIE OVERFLOW!! by: on: 31-Dec 2009 This is a good game. It is very scary and puzzling in all ways. This game is great! You have to buy this game for your collection RE fans!! HAPPY by: on: 09-Dec 2009 This game is great, it has everything: Guns,Zombies,Monsters HOT GIRLS (ADA + CLAIRE). I have many childhood memories of this game for the PSX and was very happy to relive my misspent youth. The graphics by the way seem to be slightly improved when compared to the PSX version which is awesome, I guess that's because it's ported from the N64 version which I never played. The sound however seems to be just slightly sub-par with the PSX edition. On another note I ordered this and it was delivered the next day on expedited shipping. Great game + Fast shipping = Happy me!!!!! 10/10 View All ReviewsView All Action Games |
